Hahaha yeah and I dont even know how to ride a motorbike either so I just sit behind her. She keeps telling me to try it out and I am just like I don't wanna die... We are having an Engagement party this weekend or next weekend I think. I told her to make sure someone takes photos of everything and she said that an Aunt of hers already advised her of that so looks like I will be able to document that event as well. Just sucks that my home state is cold as hell and between there and here I got stuck with a cough so everyone thinks that I am sick. It will be a good fun month. Although, not sure I would actually want to do 2 to 3 months because I like driving my car that she wants to steal from me and I would not trust driving it here. Not to mention the speeds are so slow that my lead foot would be crying out of sadness due to not being able to go high speed. lol

Have a good one and thanks for all the advice you post on here for all of us.

Just a bit of caution with the use of the engagement photos and the visa process. Though it may not be true for your embassy but those in other countries have faced a higher amount of scrutiny when "engagement photos" are used for evidence of a continued relationship. Some applicants have used them in front of the CO and the CO interrupts the pictures of the engagement as a "wedding" and without notice DECLINES the visa application. This is typically a problem for those in India who dress in customary traditional clothing that is worn at a wedding. I'm not up on Vietnam and their customs but I just want to make you aware of it. I would hold the pictures close to the vest and only offer if they are asked by the CO. Just my experience and the experience of many others on VJ. Safe travels.

We had an engagement party and we wore the traditional Ao Dai. Our engagement party was back in Feb and I submitted to USCIS about 20 photos of that alone. I will be in Vietnam to see my fiancé just prior to her interview. We will visit her hometown to make the police background check #2 and also will have them supply her the certificate of single dates for that date as well. In Vietnam, it is understood that most foreigners make the traditional engagement party because the family can celebrate knowing that the beneficiary will marry in the states. My good friend just went through this process about 2 months in front of me and he also wore the traditional Ao Dai at their engagement party and there was no problem at the interview...in fact, he didn’t even come to vietnam for the interview with her...Vietnam is considered a “high fraud” country and the most part my understanding is they are looking to make sure is a bonafide relationship and not a public charge

well, please try to seach here in visa journey "too married for a k1 "  I have seen couples that have to start all over again with a CR1 process for pictures where the CO states that they are too married for a K1 and denied at that stage that u can do nothing.... so please u know every case is different  even the mood of  the CO is different everyday... i had an engament photo session and i wont bring that to the interview.... i have plenty of other pics!

i will quote the most recents case about this:

Good luck!!!!!!! hopefully everything is gonna be alright

friends!!! my fiancé called the USCIS, they tell him that the cases are taking 7 months, that at this moment our case does not require additional documents until the moment we should receive information for the week of November 26th of not having any update we must call again. But I trust in God that we will have news soon! 🙏 my heart beats a million, the silence is over, I'm happy !!!!

I’m just replying to Greenbaum that for “Vietnam” it is expected you will have an engagement ceremony before any actual wedding. They know that here....especially since I am not Viet Kieu
