No disrespect, but my wife has a mind of her own despite what some in the MDL think or believe.  Clearly history tells us that the USSR economy was socialist and the government control was communists, so it was a combination of both.

   Come on Bill, it's just a joke. Your outlook on socialism is well known here. Obviously the MDL (whover that is)  doesn't even know your wife. 

 

   It's pretty common for Russian's describing the soviet era to refer to "the communists" and communism. Seriously, never heard anyone say "the socialists".

Maybe it is common to call it Communism in some areas, and socialism in others.  I think the fact that my wife’s father was an accountant/economist maybe gave her some additional insight into the economy they were saddled with.  Regardless, it doesn’t really matter as Communism and Socialism are just slightly different from an economic standpoint regardless of what the socialist utopian folks think.
