Well it looks like an earthquake has hit the California Service Center.  Several people were receiving their I-797's and having their checks cashed within 1-2 weeks of mailing the I-751 package in at the beginning of April.  Looking at how long this thread is now, without actually reading every post, it appears obvious something very significant has happened at the CSC.

We mailed the package on April 25 and it was received April 26 as evidenced by the USPS tracking number.   Unfortunately, I did not use certified mail or a return receipt with signature.  Assuming they lost my application I mailed another application yesterday (May 30) CERTIFIED and RETURN RECEIPT with SIGNATURE.  This time I will have proof.

Today we called immigration and finally spoke with a Tier 2 officer who simply said, they are backed up and to wait another 30 days.

Looks like many of us are in the same situation.  Our spouses will soon have an expired Green Card and zero proof they have filed the I-751.  The Tier 2 officer said, "it's OK, because they know there is a problem at CSC"...right!!!  That's not going to help any of our spouses if they have to prove they are a legal resident.

My suggestion is for everyone to start writing to their Congressman.  They have the power to get answers.  That is what I will do today.

Well...there is a huge backlog with CSC because of H1B visa that was filed in April/May.

everyone of us is going through the same. So dont worry. The best we all can do is to wait.

You should have not filed the application second time. They are slowly geting there. I saw a post where they have send out NOA for filers with april 17th date. (fingers crossed!!!)

Take a chill!

Actually if you read everything, I know its long, you would have known there is a large delay at CSC, and you wouldn't have sent the 2nd application. They are moving again though so just be patient.

I didn't think to check VisaJourney until today.  Everything went so smoothly with the initial 2-year green card that I haven't even had a thought about VisaJourney until today.  I may not have mailed the second application if I had come here first, but I didn't, so that's water under the bridge.

Nevertheless, I feel better knowing that on this second application we, at least, have something to show if needed.

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum. I need to file I - 751 to CSC. I know it has been crazy busy at CSC and people waiting for more than 4 to 5 weeks to receive NOA1.

I am ready to file I-751 but in 4 weeks I am planning to move to different state. I do not know the new address yet. Is it advisable to file I-751 now to CSC with my current address and later on call them to make address change? I do not know if they will even have my application in their system in 3 weeks to find and make address change to ensure future correspondence is mailed to right address.

Another option, I can wait and then after 4 weeks I can file I-751 with new address that I will have. Except new lease agreement for bonafide marriage evidence, I will have all other proofs of old address. Do you guys think this can be issue in I-751 outcome? and also the longer I wait to file, GC will  expire sooner.

Please advise with detail.

I would also be concerned.

If it were me, I would seriously consider going ahead and filing your I-751 as soon as you can.  Make sure when you move or a few days before that you file a COA with the Postal Service.  They do a good job of redirecting mail to new addresses.

You can file a Change of Address with the USCIS online here:

egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do

Read all their preamble stuff on the first page, if you feel the need, then click on CONTINUE at the bottom of this page and it looks like they will walk you through filing a change of address.

The first question they ask is if the COA is for a petition currently in PROGRESS.  So it would seem they deal with this situation all the time.

What should people in my situation do? My GC expires in about 9 days and I have not received anything from my I-751 filling. I did send my application thru UPS and got a signature from Moya saying it was received, but besides that when I call they have nothing in the system yet.

If you were to go as far as calling and getting in touch with a Tier 2 officer, you will most likely get the same answer I got.  They are backed-up right now so continue to wait.   Call back in another 2-3 weeks.

When I asked about the GC expiring, he was blase about it and just said, "It's OK, they know there is a problem at CSC, assuming you are filing with CSC.  That really doesn't make any of us feel better and I'm sure there would be problems if any of our spouses had to prove they were a legal resident after their GC expires, but the USCIS just doesn't seem to give a #@$#@.
