I think it does say to send 2 separate ones because I also sent one for the application and one for biometrics.... I'm pretty sure because I read it somewhere on there.

It doesn't matter as long as the TOTAL amount is accurate, i.e., $680. It makes zero difference whether you send one or two checks. There are numerous confirmations in other threads about this, so as long as the amount is correct and it is made out to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security," you will be fine

Yeah, I've seen a lot send just one check. Though I thought I had seen on there to send 2 checks or money orders. Just checked again and I just see it says to "make checks or money orders payable to..." I guess since it's in plural it makes it seem like you need one for each but you really don't idk.

When we filed for green card our attorney stated that it must be two separate checks. I noticed the plural thing to for I-751 and that they state two separate amounts. I have a hunch that in the past some people had issues with sending one check, that potential issue circulated, so attorneys responded. It sounds as if it is not always that big of a deal based on forum reports. I sent 2 checks and btw anxiously awaiting check to clear or NOA. Sent to CSC on 4/5, delivered 4/7. Talked to tier 2 rep today who denied the call center was slowed down due to working on other form filings and instead stated it was because they were installing a new process (Someone else had heard they got a new system). Sounds like they go back to their old process. But take what they tell you with a bucket of salt.

The verbiage on the USCIS website is in plural, as it is aimed at all of their applicants. Hence they are referring to 'checks' from their applicants. This answers the question: you do not need, and certainly do not have to send 2 separate checks. Right - I found an example at uscis.gov/forms/paying-uscis-fees that reflects a combined check on the check example and in #5. Sounds like needing two checks is an outdated concern.

Great find, Mark77D! This official example from the USCIS website, coupled with anecdotal evidence from many posters on VJ, should settle this once and for all! :)

Just talked to USCIS .They said they got my application dated 9th April. And then gave me  a case number. On USCIS account ,it is saying We received your biometric fee and will begin processing your case.

Did your check clear?

Is it just me or does anyone else often get those annoying pop ups when using this site on their phone?

Has anyone had issued renewing their license? My husband is having the hardest time. He got the I-551 stamp yesterday, but DMV says there are still restrictions on his name/ssn/etc, and it could take 48+ hours to get in the system or something. He has talked to THREE different people. He's been there three times. And he even called the HQ of DMV or something in our state that they told him to call. Everyone said the same thing. Immigration officer at the infopass (yesterday) told us there should be absolutely no problem and that the I-551 stamp works just like a greencard. So confused and frustrated!
