My husband's license expires on the 20th of May. I am wondering what our options are? We're not concerned about the green card expiring and job stuff, as that is not a problem. His job will more than likely not even know that it expired. But he has a long commute to work and we really don't want to do anything illegal, like driving with an expired license. What are other people's experiences? Are you able to somehow get your license renewed without the NOA letter? We have an info pass appt on the 21st, but that's a Monday and he'll more than likely be driving with an expired license.

That will be my exact situation as well. My GC expires by the end of next month and I fear of not being able to commute to and fro work with an expired license.

I commute about 120 miles a day.

The DMV will not renew the DL without a valid proof of residency (in TN).

Each passing day, the fear grows at an alarming rate. Any insight would be highly appreciated.

Exactly. And, pray tell, explaining to a police officer "my license is expired but don't you worry ...I filed my I-751 on time now let me go" will surely not help. We should demand a solution as a collective.

The total amount should be $680 ($595 for filing and $85 for bio)and you are required to send both.

https://www.uscis.gov/i-751

$595. All Form I-751 petitions also require an $85 biometric service fee for each person applying to remove conditions on their residence on the same form. See the form instructions for payment details. Please note that service centers are not able to process credit card payments.

This post is such a tease for us CSC folks. :D

Sorry about that :P
I do hope they'd pick up the pace for everyone, especially those with travel plans. They should do a volunteer thing to help them get caught up. Im sure there are many who would be willing to spend a day or two helping them get organized. For example, sort all the applications by date order, and do them from oldest to newest. That'd also let them forecast expected time better than what they're currently doing.

Gunner49,

Since you still have a valid GC, all you have to do is go to the DMV and request a renewal DL for damage/lost *Wink*Wink* or tell them I don't like my DL picture! pay the fees and get a new one for 6 years or so lol problem solved!

They will return your package for sure. You should re-send new package with correct name. Don't waste your time on waiting. and not DHS. It must be written: U.S. Department of Homeland Security

What Is the Filing Fee? The filing fee for Form I-751 is $595. A biometric services fee of $85 is also required for petitioners. Each conditional resident dependent, eligible for inclusion on the principal petitioner’s Form I-751 and listed under Part 5. of Form I-751, is required to submit an additional biometric services fee of $85, including dependents residing overseas pursuant to military or Government orders, regardless of age. NOTE: The filing fee and biometric services fee are not refundable, regardless of any action USCIS takes on this petition. DO NOT MAIL CASH. You must submit all fees in the exact amounts. Use the following guidelines when you prepare your checks or money orders for the Form I-751 filing fee and biometric services fee: 1. The check or money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the United States and must be payable in U.S. currency; and 2. Make the checks or money orders payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security. NOTE: Spell out U.S. Department of Homeland Security; do not use the initials “USDHS” or “DHS.”

Do you recommend me sending another package without waiting?? I would send atleast if they would locate my package, I am pretty sure they will return it but if i send another one, there will be two of my packages there. I dont have receipt number too. May be I will wait for one more week. I dont know what else can I do.

Are you dead certain the DMV would replace the DL and extend the DL expiration date as well when claiming it lost?

I doubt (rather, skeptical) that this approach could circumvent the "residency proof" requiremenr especially when I'm a permanent resident and not a US citizen.

Yes, Send new package now. The one that will be return won't count since they will reject the check once they see the wrong name. Don't risk your chance of being submitting docs late in this mean time.

That seems steep. We've only ever paid 1500 tops (check out Momondo and Fareboom) Nashville-Frankfurt for both tickets, and it's usually a 13 or 14 h flight (1 stop).

A non-stop flight would be from an airport that's three hours away (Atlanta) but that would be even cheaper and a couple hours less.

We mailed our I-751 on 4/13, received by USCIS on 4/16 but still the check has not been cashed yet. Anyone who mail the I-751 around the same time? Have you guys hear anything yet?

Thanks!

Cease it to California? If so there are about 50 people on this forum that are still waiting for checks to be cashed and NOA’s you’re going to have to wait for 60 days from them receiving it (for now)
