Ugh, I just want to vent because I'm feeling super stressed out today... My GC expire yesterday and it's been almost a month since I submitted my application to CSC

I'm kind of freaking out because we are going to Brazil in August, but it's not just a vacation, it's my freaking wedding. :( We got married here and had a really small ceremony at his church, just for parents and siblings, but my dad has always dreamed of walking his baby daughter down the isle at his church, so we decided to do the BIG wedding in Brazil. Hubby is an Infantryman in the Army, and at any given moment he could be deployed, so we decided to hold off the wedding for after he was out of the Army (his contract is up in July) because we didn't wanna risk him not being able to attend.

Knowing that I had to have my papers in order I was organizing my documents to send my package as soon as my window opened, in the first half of February. Except that a few days before my window opened I had a serious complication in my pregnancy and our baby was born two months premature. I stayed in the hospital for a couple of weeks, and after they discharged me I didn't get to come home because my baby was still in the NICU in a different city, and I stayed there with him. And honestly ROC was the last thing on my mind back then.

But I finally mailed my package about a month before my GC expires thinking it was plenty of time for me to get the NOA1, cause that's all I need really. I couldn't care less if the whole thing took years honestly. And now there's that.

And I'm freaking out they'll return my package for some silly reason like I didn't include my marriage certificate, and then it'll be another two months until they actually send my NOA1 and I can't make it to my own Wedding. :(

I'm terrified, my parents spent like 30k on the wedding so far, all my American family has purchased tickets and booked hotels, and I'm freaking out I won't be able to be there. :( Funny how I was afraid my hubby wouldn't be at the wedding and now I'm the one that might not be able to show up, lol

I really hope they start moving this processes soon. Fingers crossed!

Hang in there. The delay was ALMOST CERTAINLY due to the H1 processing. They should start rolling out NOA very soon. While the risk you cite are real, I don't think you should worry too much. The chances of all that worst case scenario happening to you if fairly slim. Hang tight! I am in a messy situation myself. Fingers crossed!

Sounds like you have bridal mood ;). No worry about the package return if you forgot you marriage certificate because it was not in the requirements. You probably receive RFE when they touch your case (by next year).

NOA would be mailing to you ASAP they enter your case into system. Let's hope things go well and you will have your NOA before August.

Man you are even in a worse situation than I am myself :( Here I am -married to this wonderful american man and living in this country since over 2 years and my Mom does not even met him once. She is to old for flying - she never flew and does not speak one word english, so she would never make it on an almost 24 hour flight with all teh immigration on the airport. We never had the money to get us both over to Germany (it is 3000 dollar for 2 plane tickets). This year it is the first time that I have the money together and have so many plans and my Mother is really excited to finally meet my husband and then USCIS gets in our way. And i know of so many others who have plans and need that NOA. I am as afraid as you are that they don't send me a NOA but instead my package comes back for wahtever reason and we can not go on our so long awaited vaccation. :( I am trying to stay positive, but it is hard sometimes. I am crossing my fingers for you Ana, that you can make it to your wedding (what a sad joke if you would miss your own wedding because of the chaos at the Uscis....) and for me that I finally can get my husband over to Germany and to my family. And for everybody else here on this forum that all our plans work out and CSC is finally starting to move forward!

ROC sent to CSC - 04/02/2018

My mother is old and don't speak English. So, I end up making 2 round-trips to India for pick-up and drop her off - so she could visit us in USA. Luckily -  we're well off but don't get enough vacation days off.

Your situation reminded me of my situation when it comes to Mom - it's hard for them to answer questions / fill forms properly during immigration process. Glad I submitted I-751 application at start of 90 days window. Can't imagine whatelse USCIS will keep throwing at us  - hopefully my India trip in Nov'18 is not affected considering how USCIS delays everything.

N-400 Application Timeline :

Application sent via mail - April 15th  (Field office Dallas, TX)

NOA Receipt date - April 17th

Biometrics receipt - April 22th (appointment scheduled for May 14th)

Biometrics completed - May 7th (Early Walk-in)

Biometrics completed - May 7th (Early Walk-in)

Interview scheduled notification - November 12th (via email - waiting to receive letter in mail for actual Interview date)

Interview completed & Case approved - November 17th

Naturalization Ceremony (in January 2020 - waiting on notice)

They will return your package for sure. You should re-send new package with correct name. Don't waste your time on waiting. and not DHS. It must be written: U.S. Department of Homeland Security

What Is the Filing Fee? The filing fee for Form I-751 is $595. A biometric services fee of $85 is also required for petitioners. Each conditional resident dependent, eligible for inclusion on the principal petitioner’s Form I-751 and listed under Part 5. of Form I-751, is required to submit an additional biometric services fee of $85, including dependents residing overseas pursuant to military or Government orders, regardless of age. NOTE: The filing fee and biometric services fee are not refundable, regardless of any action USCIS takes on this petition. DO NOT MAIL CASH. You must submit all fees in the exact amounts. Use the following guidelines when you prepare your checks or money orders for the Form I-751 filing fee and biometric services fee: 1. The check or money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the United States and must be payable in U.S. currency; and 2. Make the checks or money orders payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security. NOTE: Spell out U.S. Department of Homeland Security; do not use the initials “USDHS” or “DHS.”

Hello VJ,

We are back after 2 years.  Today May 15 my wife's GC will expire! We have mailed our ROC package April 30, 2018 with Form i-751 dated: April 28, 2018. Received at CSC overnight May 1, 2018 Signed by: E BARR - We have proof of delivery.

I tried to schedule an InfoPass and I kept getting: Currently, there are no available appointments. Please check again tomorrow.

Note: We just had our newborn baby a week ago and that was one of the reason why we waited until April 30 to send out our i-751 package because of wife's pregnancy was toward the end and we were very busy, but we mailed the package before the expired GC.

Any advice or recommendation is much appreciated!

Thank you!

P.S. Please add me to the list. Thanks!

Hi Ammali,

I think someone suggested in an earlier post to check on available appointments really early in the morning. Also, I believe a couple of people on this forum have their GC expired. As long as you're not travelling, and not looking for a new job, it should be ok in the meantime. CSC is currently backed up, likely due to the H1B visas, but they posted an announcement today that they were done with that, so hoping that the I751 will start moving along now.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I'm sure you'll get it before your wedding. Which, I'm jealous by the way! I've always wanted to visit Brazil...fingers crossed I get to go one day. But yeah, you still got a few months to go before then so I'm sure you'll receive that NOA on time. I actually was planning on making my first trip to Mexico this past weekend, for my dad's birthday, but I moved it up to April because my GC expired on May 3rd and was scared that I wouldn't have everything on time so I'm glad I did move it up considering how slow they are right now. I had not been to Mexico since my parents brought me to the US back in 1998 on a visitor visa we overstayed. My parents moved back to Mexico in April of last year so it had  been almost a year since I had last seen them and almost 20 years since I had last been to Mexico. I'm glad I moved it up and was able to go back to my home country already instead of waiting for another 2 years. I had already waited long enough, was supposed to have gone 2 years ago, pretty much right after getting my GC but I got pregnant with my youngest and my midwife did not allow me to travel to Mexico pregnant due to the Zika virus. Buy anyway, I think I got off topic lol don't stress! Enjoy that baby of yours in the meantime, I'm sure he will keep you busy anyway :)

ow much amount of check shall we make for i751 petition

The total amount should be $680 ($595 for filing and $85 for bio)and you are required to send both.

https://www.uscis.gov/i-751

$595. All Form I-751 petitions also require an $85 biometric service fee for each person applying to remove conditions on their residence on the same form. See the form instructions for payment details. Please note that service centers are not able to process credit card payments.

So I sent 2 checks… I separated the filling fee and biometric service fee… Would that be a problem? I also used a binder and highlighted all the dates and names on my evidence… I can’t afford to wait for 60 days to get my package returned since my GC is going to expire on day 67… I for sure won’t have enough time to re-file after that…

Thanks jackiewackie,

As a new day starts on midnight a new appointments times open for the new day,

We are not going anywhere, not traveling or looking for a job etc. therefore, should I wait for NOA or go ahead and schedule an appt. to get I-551 stamp? and even if I schedule an appt. with the local USCIS Field office, is it guaranteed that they will give us I-551 stamp? with our proof of delivery of i-751 package?

The earlier appt. on May 30 two weeks from today.

Any insight/knowledge is so much appreciate it.

Thanks for your help!

Thank you for sharing. I'm in the same exact situation! Wedding in Italy for 70 people July 16. We plan to return before the 2 year GC expires but need the NOA for my wife's Schengen visa application. VSC received it 5/3 and we had expected to have it by now! We're watching the VSC trends closely...
