Hey guys, so I got a letter from CSC today. It says that I don't have to go in for biometrics because they are going to reuse my old fingerprints.

Oh that's awesome. I read they were doing that a bunch. Too bad about the fee but, oh well.

We filed at the end of March and just got a letter saying they are waiving our biometrics appointment (CSC case) and using the bio's from our original AOS application.  I wonder if CSC is making moves to start delving into the backlog and speed things up .... Hopefully you April filers will hear something soon too.

Hiiiii you got a letter that said that? I saw reports of people’s status changing but sorta thought it was probably a system glitch bc uscis ya know?

Make an infopass appointment at your local USCIS office. My husband is in the same problem. They told us to refile when we called but our lawyer recommended the infopass. We went this morning and were told that in california they've not entered any new applications in the system since April 6th. If you go they should give you a temporary ID valid for 1 year! My husband received his today. They're supposed to start transferring some cases to the local offices to be processed.

Lagringa - Which office? LA?

No, I'm in Ohio. But it sounds like all local offices should know about this delay. They should have all received a message about applications not being entered into the system since April 6th with the instructions to stamp passports or issue temporary ID's if no passport is available. You should be able to go to whichever office is closest to you. We just mentioned that we had tracking to know when our package arrived to California and that my husband's green card had already expired.

I think this is from another website track it. I think its LA office. I did speak to my lawyer today -

  1. she said you can refile if you want, but its not necessary. USCIS will probably take your money twice and cancel your second application thats it.
  2. Also if you make an infopass and if they can't see anything in the system then they will NOT give you a stamp in your passport by just looking at your fedex receipt. Also in some cities, USCIS is giving stamps of only 6 months.

Thought I would share in this forum. Her recommendation was to wait. There is really nothing that we can do.

But according to Lagringa's experience, they were able to get a temporary card issued because apparently notice went out to all local field offices (on the 9th f May or so) that there is a delay in processing application and that no applications filed after April 6th has been entered in to the system. This seems like a remedial action they are taking on their part. I am definitely going to the SF field office on Monday morning with all the documents I have on me along with a couple of passport size photos.

You seem skeptical (understandably). Is it because your lawyer said there is no way that this can happen?

Cool. Please do let us know what you find. If it’s truly something USCIS is doing then I would get a stamp too!!
