OMG guys, I just checked my bank account and it looks like my check is being processed! I'm not sure if this happened just by chance or if somehow my phone call from yesterday triggered it. I'm hoping this is a good sign for all us April filers!

I called USCIS earlier, got transferred to tier 2, I had to arrange a call back it was 180 minute hold time.   They just called back, asked a few security questions.   They can see it was received on the 13th April, she stated I should receive my NOA in the next few days, I said the check hasn't been cashed, she says its in process.  Gave me my file number - EAC then 10 numbers - so I can check the status online, as of now its showing nothing :(   But I feel this is a positive step forward and within a few days (hopefully before the weekend) I'll have my NOA in hand so I can renew my driving license and be worry free for the short term  :)

Lets hope everyone else has positive news soon

This is actually a good sign! At least they can find your file number, so you know it is in process. You've not hit your 30 days have you? I might try calling them today.

Its the standard number, you have to be transferred  800-375-5283, then hold or get a call back

From what I was told, you can make an infopass and get a stamp in your passport. You just need to show that they did receive it (tracking the package) and that you gave them enough time to receive it (two-ish weeks from tracking signature  date). It's "normally" expected to get your NOA/1 year extension within 3-4 weeks  from the time they recieved the application, if they haven't you can get a stamp.

This is what I was told, as when we apply my husband will have about a month left on his GC. We're over nighting it with signature tracking, then if nothing is heard from them by like the end of May (which I don't expect), we'll make an infopass appointment, bring a COMPLETE copy of the application (including a copy of the earlier dated signed check) and the overnight tracking proof and the signature proof and get a passport stamp.

I may be wrong on the above, this is what I was told and it's something that is being asked a lot lately.
While it's comforting that he's safe as long as he applied within the 90 day window, the lack of proof makes this still not good enough for me. I doubt waving a UPS signature would suffice.

Note: I do not agree with sending in a second application. Not only will it clog things up, it means you'll have to send a second check. It would NOT put it past me that they run both checks, as it's an application fee and they take that before they really do anything with the paperwork. They scan your check, say "okay I got your stuff, let's see if it's good" (NOA) and then later actually work on the papers. And if they get to your first check, will you be able to get them to pull the unlooked at application to make sure they don't start running that too? Too many ifs for me, ones that can cost a lot of money too.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain it to me, it's very kind of you. I feel better now. ^_^ I am relieved I still have the receipt with the tracking number from USPS. I find it pretty weird as well that they would ask for a new application, it would simply slow down the process even more. I'll wait longer and in the meantime I'll keep on religiously check my bank account something like 5 times a day...

Just a thought, maybe I'm wrong, but I thought we didn't get our case number until the bio metrics letter, the NOA doesn't show it.    Anyway its a case number (hoping its not an RFE)

Perhaps they allocate a case number to anyone who calls? What did you tell them so they would allow you to speak to tier 2?

I called last week and they said as of then there was nothing they could help me with.  Today, I said Its been 30 days, (its 30 days on Thursday), I have not received any notification and the check has not been cashed, he immediately said I need to transfer you to tier 2, transferred me and I got the hold or request a call back - I went for the call back.  Case number is, I probably said incorrectly is the receipt number.  3 letters (first 3 are the service center) then 10 numbers.

"The receipt number is a unique 13-character identifier that USCIS provides for each application or petition it receives. The agency uses it to identify and track its cases.

The receipt number consists of three letters-for example, EAC, WAC, LIN, SRC, NBC, MSC or IOE-and 10 numbers. You can find it on notices of action USCIS has sent you."

Mine starts EAC for Vermont  :)

The NOA/extension letter does show the case number. Received ours a few weeks ago. Now when I check the case status it says “At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case.” So I don’t know what’s up with that, but the NOA does have a case number.

I see that when I check, but I thought it was due to mine being newly in the process - maybe they are experiencing issues ?

In the past I used to call first thing in the morning or lunchtime - maybe thats something you can do and schedule the call back - which takes 5 minutes when they do ring you.
