That is true. I thought that maybe it could have been a build up of events as they've been getting slower with time, and April being the breaking point? Maybe, but we won't know, because they're not telling us anyway! And yeah, the "wait, and if nothing resend" was infuriating to read! Do they genuinely want us to do that, or was it just an answer to get us off their backs?

Exactly. We need to tell them that we are aware it is not an isolated case, but that everyone else is in the same boat. Then maybe they would finally spill..

Knowing that I am not the only one facing this issue gives me reassurance and I keep refreshing my bank app to see if the check cleared!

As the GC expiration date draws closer, one cannot help but feel a growing sense of frustration especially when kept in the dark!

To further compound the issue, I do need to renew my DL as I commute to and fro work. In TN, they issue out a 'temporary DL' which is conditional and mirrors the GC expiry date.

I had received a renewal letter issued by the TN DMV which stated that I need to provide updated documentation proving my current legal presence and length of authorized stay in the USA at the time of renewal.

My wife keeps quoting me this scripture which calms me down (for a short while :P) "For we walk by faith, not by sight"

I hope the applications start getting some traction soon ... Fingers crossed.

I don't get this. My GC expires at the end of this week. So if they don't cash my check by friday it's my responsibility although I sent my papers a month ago? How can I reapply after two weeks if my GC expires? I can't believe it.

From what I was told, you can make an infopass and get a stamp in your passport. You just need to show that they did receive it (tracking the package) and that you gave them enough time to receive it (two-ish weeks from tracking signature  date). It's "normally" expected to get your NOA/1 year extension within 3-4 weeks  from the time they recieved the application, if they haven't you can get a stamp.

This is what I was told, as when we apply my husband will have about a month left on his GC. We're over nighting it with signature tracking, then if nothing is heard from them by like the end of May (which I don't expect), we'll make an infopass appointment, bring a COMPLETE copy of the application (including a copy of the earlier dated signed check) and the overnight tracking proof and the signature proof and get a passport stamp.

I may be wrong on the above, this is what I was told and it's something that is being asked a lot lately.
While it's comforting that he's safe as long as he applied within the 90 day window, the lack of proof makes this still not good enough for me. I doubt waving a UPS signature would suffice.

Note: I do not agree with sending in a second application. Not only will it clog things up, it means you'll have to send a second check. It would NOT put it past me that they run both checks, as it's an application fee and they take that before they really do anything with the paperwork. They scan your check, say "okay I got your stuff, let's see if it's good" (NOA) and then later actually work on the papers. And if they get to your first check, will you be able to get them to pull the unlooked at application to make sure they don't start running that too? Too many ifs for me, ones that can cost a lot of money too.

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention VSC. There wasn't anything special with my call, I just asked what's going on with my file and they told me stuff I already know. They asked me when did the service center received the package, and told me that it could take up to 30 days for me to get the receipt. They didn't know anything else beyond that. I think that my phone call didn't have anything to do with it, today is 26 days after they received my package...so I guess it was just bound to happen...but who knows. Mind you this is just for the check.. I still have to wait for the NOA.
