I wonder how long we will have to wait post biometrics to get an update. If we had to take the bio within the first 30 days of having applied, then we would've had to wait months for an update, but since the waiting happened before the bio this time, i wonder if we still have to wait months before we hear anymore.

Thank you! Yes, his appointment is at an ASC here in Dallas. thanks again!

ASCs are normally contracted to third party. Staff is extremely rude and it's ymmv on letting you in early as it is not heavily guarded specially one in Dallas TX.

I suggest arrive 15-20 min early, depending on how many people are ahead of you they'll decided to let you go in or not. It has ample parking right in front of Center and it is similar to walking into store except this does have atleast one guard. Nothing strict as expected.

We went there to get biometrics done when hubby was getting his name corrected on his conditional GC and they were nice to us. maybe we lucked out and had friendly people that day. of course that was Oct of 2016.

I'm only pointing that this is not Federal building like USCIS in Irving, TX and staff is not USCIS employee. USCIS contracts few activities to 3rd party like fingerprints etc. to reduce amount of people crowding at main offices like in Irving, TX.

I got the same letter!

I filed in early April 2018.

Did ya'll get biometrics done sometime after you filed? i'm trying to figure out why some of us got appointments to get them done and others were waived/re-using previous ones.

I can only speak for myself, and, in my case, the last (and only) biometrics were done as part of the I-485 application back in 2016.

I stopped trying to make sense of anything. Good luck and the speediest and successful resolution of this process to everyone!

I received a biometrics appointment letter for March 14th. Does anyone know from experience how long does the FBI background check take?

I wondered the same thing. I googled to see if i can find any information online. the sites i saw says fingerprint check can take anywhere from 24-48 hours. Name check take as little as a 1-2 weeks. just depends on the backlog. I'd be interested to see what the realistic time is these days.  My husband's biometric is on Monday. I'll update as soon as we hear something. hopefully, it's not a long wait from this point.

So I got my letter in the mail (Receipt number WAC181385XXXX) which says "We have completed a preliminary review of the application or petition ("your case") listed above.  As part of standard processing, we transferred your case to the USCIS office listed below that has jurisdiction over your case.  That office will notify you in writing when they make a decision on your case or if they need additional information.  POTOMAC SERVICE CENTER, 2200 Potomac Centra DR, MS 2425, Arlington, VA."

Has anyone else had this?  Didn't realize they had a service center in VA?

Just wondering if anyone else had anything like this or could tell me if it's just a standard transfer or something else?

I got notification that our case was transferred to. I thought it was because my husband filed his N-400 last week but when I checked the case tracker app, it appears many many cases around our number have all been transferred since Feb 22. Our number is WAC181355XXXX. So sounds like a normal workload transfer. I didn't know Potomac was doing I-751s though and there's no time frame listed for them! :(

Another thing...our transfer only shows up on the old system which, up until now, showed no info at all. The new system shows case received on April 6 and biometrics review done June 25 but nothing on the transfer. I haven't got the letter yet.
