Does anyone know what the expected time after biometrics to approval is?

Also, is request for biometrics a sign that RFE won't be requested? Is it basically an all good?

I completed my biometrics on June 12th, 2018, and yet nothing since then. FIled on April 13th, NOA May 7th.

through VSC

I don’t think the request for biometrics and chance of RFE are related at all.

Pretty much all applicants from (Mid April-June 2018 I think) did not receive their biometrics letters last year when they should have.

I'm just worried that hopefully they give waiver to some processes if not Nov-Dec 2018 applicant will get approved even before they look into our cases (april 2018).

Based on my experience, background checks take atleast 1-2 months. i'm hopeful we should hear back from USCIS atleast in 2 months from now.

Is that your NOA date? I saw you said you filed mid April in a previous post. What’s your WAC first 6 digits ?

I am on May fillers,  my wife s case number is wac181945####. The letter that I mentioned in my post here yesterday was the waived biometric letter. It is stated that my wife does nor need another finger print as it will be used the old one for the process of the case. We got the NOA on Jully, but it was sent to us on June for the wrong address.

Problem is Jan-March 2018 filers did not have same issue as April 2018 related to biometrics. All April filers never heard about biometrics until now while Jan-March filers went thru biometrics in normal time-frame. Unless USCIS plans to skip /pretend to run  security checks for us based off biometrics data, we're looking in long queue compared to Jan-March 2018 filers.

Most of anyone didn’t have biometrics after the second week of April unless they were a filer at the end of 2018.

There are a few people from the May filers who received bio appointments, so they aren’t skipping everyone but it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve mass pushed through something. Around the time of my AOS a lot of people were just approved, no RFE, no interview. Our AOS took 2 months.

one reason it can be longer is simply because in April is when the backlog started due to back logs at other service centers, reallocating those, and then while this is happening they had a system update revamping everything.

VSC is in worse shape now, while when we filed it was CSC that was behind.

i believe for CSC it’ll still take about 12 months from NOA to find out, but I also have seen them mass approve before for cases that were cut and dry, and that might be where USCIS is at right now especially since the person who is an April filed that got approved had their case NOA in May.

Yes that’s their NOA date, they filed in April, it wasn’t processed until May.

Most people who filed in mid-April and later didn’t have their papers touched for a month.

i filed May 10th my NOA date is June 7th.

@Ash.1101 I experienced the same issue too. Filed on May 22nd but NOA is dated June 12th. WAC181995xxxx

@kamrankhan seems to be the most recent approval on here, congratulations again!

Yep!

That's because after around April 12th or 13th, they completely stopped processing documents at CSC for a good month. It climbed up to a 45 day wait from package receive date to NOA.

So I got my letter in the mail (Receipt number WAC181385XXXX) which says "We have completed a preliminary review of the application or petition ("your case") listed above.  As part of standard processing, we transferred your case to the USCIS office listed below that has jurisdiction over your case.  That office will notify you in writing when they make a decision on your case or if they need additional information.  POTOMAC SERVICE CENTER, 2200 Potomac Centra DR, MS 2425, Arlington, VA."

Has anyone else had this?  Didn't realize they had a service center in VA?

Can someone remind me of the process for biometric, it's been too long so i can't remember? I looked on the letter to see if there were any specific instructions on when he should arrive, but it didn't say.

For biometric, his appointment is at 10am. does he need to get there 30 minutes before the appointment time or just show up a few minutes before appointment time?

@LinJoe - The letter does not suggest an arrival time, if I remember correctly.  If your biometrics appointment is at a USCIS field office, you should not arrive early (I mean 10 minutes early to allow for security check is expected, but not 30 or 45 minutes early).  They really don't like to let you in too early since it is a federal office, they are trying to minimize the number of non-staff going in and out of the office.

If your appointment is at an Application Support Center (ASC), that is a contractor processing location.  You can arrive early (I would say not more than 30 minutes).  They will process you as soon as you have an appointment for the day.  In Boston where I live, so many people are showing early that if you arrive on time you end up waiting for hours.  This happened to me.

Barring any wait, the whole process takes less than 10 minutes once your first finger gets scanned.
