Hey all - thank you for your updates!

I checked online my case status using the receipt number from the I-797 NOA (18-month extension) and it says on their portal "At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 for additional information." What does everyone else have?

Today I was crossing through the Windsor-Detroit border, with my expired GC and the extension letter and once again they gave me grief....honestly, I don'
t understand how they don't know what this letter is (the CBP agent said I should go get a sticker on my GC 🙄...the letter is sufficient).

I just want this whole process to move along and be over...

I-751 Received 05/02/2018 CSC
I-751 18-month extension 08/18/2018
No information on biometrics

No status on the USCIS portal

I've always been given a hard time at the Detroit border. If it's not too much hassle, try making it up to the Port Huron/Sarnia (Blue Water Bridge) crossing. It's usually a lot smoother and generally less wait times than either of the Detroit/Windsor crossings since it's not as big of an import/export crossing. We have crossed twice with the expired GC and the extension letter(s) with no issues.

My wife and I haven't crossed in Detroit since I moved down here.

Hi all! Have a couple of updates:

1. checked USCIS Case Status (within my account) - haven’t checked it in two weeks and it’s been updated 06/28 that they received my fingerprints at VCS. My fingerprint appointment was on 06/05 (Maryland). So it took them 3 weeks to update the case status. Hope this helps.

2. I was out of the country for the first time on the green card extension letter and it was just fine. I did call my airline (Aeroflot Russian Airlines) to make sure I can board with the ‘paper’ instead of the passport stamp and they said yes absolutely. I have another trip coming up in a month (Emirates Airline) and I googled their fine print page about rules and regulations of boarding - they do mention that it’s okay to board with the extension letter. However I will call as well just to find out.

Hope this helps! Hanging in the for more case updates though. Any year now 😂

Hi, how did you trip to Russia go? Did you encounter any problems with extension letter ? Were you flying to Moscow or any other city ? Did you bring translation of extension letter with you ? Thank you in advance

2/28/15 - (Day 1)- AOS package delivered to Chicago Lockbox

3/12/15 - (Day 12)- Received the hard copies of the NOAs via mail / NOA1 dated 03/02/2015

3/18/15 - (Day 18)- Received the hard copy of my biometrics appointment. Scheduled for 4/02/15

4/02/15 - (Day 33)- Biometrics Completed

5/16/15 - (Day 77) - update on EAD - Card in Production

hi there!! yup!! I went to Moscow (Like 3 times already while on the extension letter). I flew with Aeroflot - and did not encounter any problems. when I checked in in Moscow - the person at the front desk knew exactly what it was and another time they said they knew what it was but didn't know how to use it - the colleague at the station next to theirs helped them. It was pretty easy with this matter. When I arrived to JFK - unfortunately I couldn't use the machines which scan your GC (because it is expired) - so I had to stand the line for the officer (like an hour lol). That line was probably the most annoying thing about travelling with the expired GC and the extension letter. However, everyone on the way knew what they were doing.

Let me know if you have any more questions!! hope your travel goes smoothly!

Hi guys,

I read on the uscis website, they said that "Application for Naturalization may not be APPROVED if the removal of condition is still pending". By "Approved", do they mean they are going to ACCEPT our application and leave it at pending until they approve the petition of removal condition? Or they will refuse our application at the first place?

It's quite confusing or am I thinking too much? lol

Any idea, guys?

Thanks :)

Best to wait til your I-751 is processed before applying for naturalization.

It just means they can't approve it until the 751 application is approved. I think there was someone here who had their naturalization interview a week before their ROC interview (NOT the norm) and they were put on hold until the ROC approval. I've seen people have their 751 and nat interview done at the same time, days separate and weeks separate.

Some people say wait, some people say don't. You can still apply for sure, they will accept it if you meet the criteria for naturalization  but ROC has to be approved for there to be a Naturalization approval.

My local USCIS officers all told me to wait as otherwise it will confuse the workers in charge of reviewing/approving and will cause delays. I know we will wait.

I don't see a USCIS officer telling anyone different because it makes their job easier having less paperwork and less cases open.

But so far on VJ, there's no reason to believe that doing N-400 and I-751 at the same time causes a delay. Some people have even had their cases adjudicated faster. Some have their N400 interview the same day as their I751, some a couple of days apart or a couple of weeks apart, but there really haven't been any complaints about a delay that would make it not worth it.

Again though, it's personal preference and the process on how its done may change so I personally am just going to see where it's all at next May and go from there.
