Not sure which center you sent to - but CSC is currently at a processing time of 18-20 months and VSC is at 13-17 months.  They will send you a letter should you need to do an interview and you should not need an I-551 stamp until your NOA expires, which is a ways out.  Just travel with your NOA and sit tight.

Thank you Sydney. When does the countdown start for those processing times? From receipt of our packages or from NOA issuance?

Hi Guys,

I went for my biometric appointment on June 13th,

NOA 1 received May 12.

At the office they said to just wait until USCIS sends the green card or the next step in the mail. As I understand this is where the longest waiting time comes. About 9-14 months. But they were not sure if I'll need to go for the interview or the card will be sent to my mail.. Also they said I don't need the I-551stamp if I want to travel. Just bring NOA1.

Any ideas what to expect guys?

Thanks!!!

Well 7 yrs ago my husband traveled on just the NOA and they wouldn't let him board the flight. They said he NEEDED to have the stamp in his passport. His 3 days trip eventually turned into 3 weeks! I would definitely not travel without the stamp the hassle my my husband went through was too much

My card expires 6/28, and I tried to get the "Authorized to work under DHS ..etc.." removed and she said I couldn't because it should have been done 30 days before the expiration date. I brought the NOA1 but she said they are unable to authorized unless I have the infopass in my passport. She had no idea what the NOA1 even was. She also said I wouldn't be able to travel without having the stamp in my passport.  Any advice? Should I try a different center to renew? Ugh.

Was he denied to go on the flight out of the states, or did he have issues trying to come back in? This is worrying. I was also told today at the social security office that I wouldn't be able to travel without the stamp. Although I think they are technically correct in regards to just needing the NOA1, I don't think it's something that's universally known across the departments. I'm going to try to get the stamp on my passport before I travel out in August. As to how, I'm not sure. There doesn't seem to be any appointments available 2 weeks out, and I've checked it every once in a while, and nothing.  This whole process is ridiculous.

We did last week! His green card expired in April.  All they needed was his drivers license, NOA, Green card and old ss card

I just went in today, and they told me I needed a stamp, and that the NOA means naught. She said she tried to enter it but the system rejected it (not sure if she actually did) and my Green card hasn't even expired it. I wonder if it's State-specific?

Yes he went to Jamaica and when he was to return. He checked in and during pre boarding where they 're check your docs they told him he couldn't board without the stamp. He had to call his job and everything was a mess. He was stuck in Jamaica for 3 wks. Everything through the US consul had to be done via email so it took some time...please get the stamp because it recently happened to my friend who went to Canada also.

How can we do this if they refuse to give us a stamp?

Not sure but they did tell my husband he didnt need the stamp and when went he couldnt re enter the country. Also my friend went to Canada last year and when she showed them her NO A she said they called her in a room and told her she can't board with it. Good thing she had the stamp in her passport but they didn't see it cause it was way at the back. That was how she was able to come back

Thank you Sydney. When does the countdown start for those processing times? From receipt of our packages or from NOA issuance?

I am not 100% sure, but I believe from the date you filed!
