Hey everyone, USCIS just issued this statement:

"As of June 11, 2018, petitioners who file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, or Form I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status, will receive a Form I-797 receipt notice that can be presented with their Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card, as evidence of continued status for 18 months past the expiration date on their Permanent Resident Card.

We are making the change from 12 to 18 months because current processing times for Form I-751 and Form I-829 have increased over the past year.

Additionally, we will issue new Form I-797 receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents whose Form I-751 or I-829 was still pending as of June 11, 2018. Those Form I-797 receipt notices will also serve as evidence of continued status for 18 months past the expiration date on petitioner’s Permanent Resident Card."

My receipt said extension for 1 year. Does this mean that they are going to be sending out another receipt notice to extend the green card to 18 months for EVERYONE? WE who filed in April, May were largely affected by this delay so will we be getting this extension??? The standard time period for the California Center says 18 months to 20 months. If you dont get your extended green card within that time, that means you can't work since this receipt says its renewing it for travel AND work.

Anyone know more about this? Anyone try to call their local field office or the USCIS number??? I'm seriously stressed about this.

Husbands green card is expiring in 2 days and he just received an email from HR that he needs to prove he’s eligible to work or be terminated. I’m basically preparing for a fight. I wasn’t expecting this because he works for a major corporation (one of the two big pharmacy chains). He’s armed with all I-9 info he needs so hopefully it won’t be a problem.

I let him neglect gettinf his ssn restrictions removed bc I was nagging and he wasn’t interested in taking off work to do it. I gave up. We’ll see when he goes to work tomorrow if that was a big mistake.

I guess he can’t use his extension letter to get the restrictions removed? He’s SOL until roc is approved?

Make an appointment with your local field office. I think they can give you an extension there.

He actually has the extension letter (we were one of the lucky ones who got in a couple days before they stopped) but his HR is so dumb. They gave him a tough time when his ead expired, even though he had given them his green card months earlier. Im just anticipating them not knowing about the extension letter and causing a stink.

USCIS have kindly agreed I can keep my name instead of being known as "no given name" and will send me a new NOA1 with my correct details on.

In the meantime my biometrics appointment arrived addressed to 'No given name' and is for June 22nd - I'm hoping they won't be upset that it isn't my actual name...

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey
