Question did they ask you for proof? My husbands sister is sick and shes getting an operation but we haven't asked her for paperwork becuase we are still thinking about an emergency AP. Do you recommend it?

Of course they asked for proof. I took birth certificates, death certificate etc! You have to build a good case! I would reccomend it, yes.

Air tickets? Nooooo!!! You need approval before you can book flights!

Great thanks for the info. I’ve heard that from different filers who went in for emergency AP. They took iternary with them which shows more proof and strong evidence or you can say will to travel. But your comment is very helpful to me it gives me more visibility on what to do.

Is there anyone from Minneapolis/St-Paul on here? Have you received any interview dates? I got my status updated to "ready to schedule for interview" in September but have NOT received any notices. Should I be worried? Looking at the estimates, it's most disheartening. The St Paul dates seem to be in April 2016 :(.

We aren't with that office, but we have been at "Ready To Be Scheduled" since the middle of May. No movement :( We got so excited when we saw that, especially because it happened so quickly within one month of us filing the forms, but grew disappointed to find out it means nothing and can sit there for a long time :(

Yes, my husband's an MSP filer - we filed in March and had our case marked ready in August.  Estimates seem to be pretty spot on in terms of how long it's taking people...I'd suggest heading over to the MSP filers forum.

Good morning everyone.

I have my adjustment of status interview in Baltimore in a little over 2 weeks. I’m starting to become increasingly nervous.

I had my full medical examination in my home country Germany on 2/22/18. Since it hasn’t been a year since then I assume I don’t have to go and see a civil surgeon and re do the exam.

I wonder if I should go anyways and at least re verify my vaccination record.

Anyone that’s already been through the interview, any special tips you might have?

I have all the documentation and copies of everything, so I feel like I am pretty prepared.

i don’t have anything medical since I had to give that in a sealed envelope to the border control officer upon entry on my K1 visa.

How long did it take you after the interview to receive the card in the mail?  Was your case approved right after the Interview ?

my husband got a great job offer in Colorado, and we want to move by February 1st. My interview is on November 30th. I’m hoping to have the green card by then so I can move.

Advanced Parole experience

Just wanted to share a quick experience. My wife got her combo card in September, and we just got back from visiting Hungary (where she's from). We were originally only going to be there for 3 weeks, but extended it for an extra, so she was gone for a little over a month.

The tl;dr is it took a little while, but was no problem and a lot of stress over what it would be like for nothing.

At SFO, I went with her to the other visas/passports line. When we did the computer check-in, her combo card would not work, so I wasn't able to register her as traveling with me there. No problem, we just went into the line. With only two officers working, it took at least an hour. The officer we talked to was friendly, welcomed us to "Canada" - totally chill guy. However, we knew that we'd still need to go to that secondary check room.

When we sat down, we were the fourth or fifth file waiting to be checked. With only one officer working, it was slow. She got called to do something else, and while she was gone, the room FILLED up. I felt pretty bad for everyone after us, given how slow they were going already. After waiting nearly 45 minutes, the officer called her up. She first asked my wife if her address was something like 135 Lakeshore. She said no, as that was TOTALLY off. Not sure if that was a test or just a mixed file note. Anyway, asked for the address, how long she was gone, and then stamped and gave it back. That's it.

So if you're wondering about traveling home with AP, I say go for it. I'm not sure what the experience would've been like if I wasn't there (I wanted to travel with her just in case), but I'm guessing it would've been the same.

Thanks for sharing your experience! We will be traveling to my husband's home country for over a month with advanced parole. I'm a little nervous because we have a layover in Miami, and I am worried that we will miss our connecting flight due to so much time with speaking to the CO and possible secondary questioning. I hope the airlines accomodate for this!

I'd call them in advance and see what they do in these situations, but I would probably err on the side of a longer layover just in case. Not sure how busy Miami is when it comes to that. The only other thing that happened to us was a rep from Lufthansa came in looking for us since our bags had come off the carousel but we weren't there to get them.

Also, do I need my German birth certificate translated ?

All documents not in English have to be translated. Don't worry about anything, so far as you have prepared. You may just want to go do another medical just in case, to save you the trouble of having the GC put on hold pending when it's done. You want to be in and out that day hopefully. Good luck and best wishes to you!

Just got a little text message with an update to my case - Interview was scheduled!

From what I can find, this update is an indication that I'm roughly a month out from my interview?? Can anyone confirm?

Thanks!

Congrats! Should have your letter with interview date in 5-7 days. Interview will be 4-6 weeks from notification date on USCIS

Don't worry :)

-You do not have to redo the exam, the case agent will request it from the embassy.

I wonder if I should go anyways and at least re verify my vaccination record.

-Should not be a problem, again, case agent will request it from the embassy.

Anyone that’s already been through the interview, any special tips you might have?

-Just relax and answer the basic questions and provide any documents requested (take copies of everything).

I have all the documentation and copies of everything, so I feel like I am pretty prepared.

-You most likely are! :)

i don’t have anything medical since I had to give that in a sealed envelope to the border control officer upon entry on my K1 visa.

-Again, it should not be an issue. Ours took 7 days to arrive/be approved after the interview, so just sit tight.

How long did it take you after the interview to receive the card in the mail?  Was your case approved right after the Interview ?

-See my signature/timeline. Case agent told us it was approved pending the medical being received from the embassy (took about 7 days)
