Enrolled me as his dependent and he can add me in his insurance plan?

1. Make sure the company he works provides coverage for spouses.

2. Every year, employees will have a certain period of time to review, to change, and to keep their insurance plans as they wish. I'm not sure which state you're in, but in California, it's usually around September and October.

3. Once your husband adds you as a dependent in his plan, you will be able to use the same insurance plan that he has. The company may not pay for your part of the insurance plans but a company plan in general it's a better deal.

For example: the company I'm working for covers 90% of the insurance cost for me and 75% of the insurance cost for my dependent (my husband).

The percentage a company covers can go from 0-100%. Check with his company's policies to see if other insurances are also included (life, AD&D, auto, home, etc).

I checked before his insurance plan can’t add me. I have to buy one myself unfortunately.

Thanks

Will it be hard to show diagnoses ? And it has to be in English if you are from non English country , you have to translate it ?

Yes, all the evidence has to be translated in English by a qualified translator.

Anyone who buys health insurance yourself because my husband can’t add me in his insurance plan .. but I can’t work now I want to buy health insurance for myself in case I am sick. any ideas ? Thanks

When we moved to the US last December we got health insurance right away for my husband. Since he can't work until he gets his work visa which is taking forever and it is too expensive for me to add him to my insurance through work. We did it online and I guess it's Obamacare or state health insurance idk but since he had just moved to the US he qualified otherwise I think there is a certain cutoff as to when he could apply. Hope this helps.

I just tried to applied in healthcare.gov and they said they can’t verify my identity. I don’t know why. Did your husband have the same problems ? Thanks

Your insurance is provided by government, is that right ? Is government insurance cheaper and better ? Thanks !

unfortunately, it is over 60 days after our marriage .

We had to verify my husbands identity, just look at the list they provide I think we uploaded our marriage certificate and a few other things then he was approved.

I am also looking for private insurance company but I don’t know if the states insurance is better. We are qualified to Obamacare only if we have a green card ..

I've just called USCIS and they confirmed our case is now ready to be scheduled for an interview! The website still hasn't changed but apparently it was changed internally on July 24th! Hopefully we can get this letter soon! I know my husband really misses his family.

It's getting so tiring having people from home keep asking stuff like 'you still can't work? but when?". This process is just brutal, I'm afraid I've gotten too comfortable with not working that I don't know how I'll manage time once I start to work. Eh, I will, just afraid how things are different here, back home I was 20 minutes walk distance away from work. Here any sort of thing requires going long distance and getting stuck in traffic.

It’s definitely difficult moving country, I completely understand where your head is at.

I’m a big believer of “positive mental attitude” though and I do believe everything happens for a reason.

Once you receive your work permit I believe you will be in a better head space. I often look for jobs on indeed.com and it makes me feel happy knowing that I will be able to apply soon(ish)! It’s nice to be prepared and know what’s out there!

I’m from England and I was able to walk everywhere too (definitely a bonus!)

I now currently live in Michigan and I’m with you on the traffic! Haha! The roads here are pretty bad too! Ah well!

However, there are pro’s and con’s to everything and The States definitely has a lot to offer!

Where about are you from and where are you now? :)

Keep your head up and trust the process! (Very difficult, I know!)
