Hi, I'm from PA, too.
So when you went to DMV you were asked to show I-94? Mine is expired so I am not sure if it is going to be a problem or not.

Hi, fellow PA resident!:) I-94 is the first thing they asked me to show. Expired "Admit Until Date"? It doesn't matter as long as you did marry within 90 days.

UGH this process is so frustrating!! I can't believe it takes this long to give a person who is in the country legally the temporary authorization to work. What benefit does it do for the country to have people just sitting around when they could be adding to the economy!? My husband is being so patient, but I am going crazy. I try not to talk to him about it much because it's not his fault he can't work, but having 100% of the financial burden on just me is so stressful. How do you guys deal with it??? I make plenty of money to support us, but I've definitely had to sacrifice a lot (which I would do my entire life if I had to, don't get me wrong). Sometimes it just feels so overwhelming to know that everything relies on you.

I keep coming back to this forum hoping to see other April filers getting their EAD approved, but seems like there still is no movement. We also had filed an expedite request, but the job offer he was supposed to get fell through because he didn't have the EAD (how freakin' ironic, right). So now I'm worried that requesting the expedite just screwed things up even more - we sent a fax response asking them to disregard the expedite request and just process it normally but who knows if it's been properly handled or not.

And the worst part of all, my husband's grandpa passed away last week. He was devastated and felt so guilty that he couldn't go home to be with his family because he doesn't have AP. It made me sick knowing that him being here in this country to be with me kept him away from being there for his family when they needed him. :(

Anyway, no real point of this post. Just felt like venting to people who can relate to what I'm going through!

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

I have nothing valuable to contribute other than wanting to say I COMPLETELY understand and empathize with you. My husband is so miserable here, even though he is really trying to make the best of it. He didn't even want to move to the US to begin with, so this  lack of rights and abilities to be mobile is just making it worse. It is a burden to have all of the financial burden on us as the USC, even though I do make far over the poverty line. But things like paying for him to go to college without financial aid (because of not having a GC), paying double for health insurance, and taking care of absolutely everything can be very stressful at times. I totally get it. My husband can't wait to go home and be with his beloved family. I promised to buy us tickets to go home for Christmas after he finishes the semester ($4,000 for both of us at today's price ughh) if he gets AP before then.  Like you, I would do anything to be next to him and I am so thankful we finally have this opportunity to be together after spending so much time apart. But sometimes, it is just downright HARD.

No, they didn't ask for my homeland license. One important thing they asked for is two actual letters in my name with my address as a proof of residence. I showed my health insurance welcome letter and my bank statement.

hey Kozmic, no real point for this reply either, but as a fellow VJer (and argentine too LOL) said above, your situation is very understandable and I totally sympathize with you as well. reading your post made me mad, it sucks and it's so unfair! I'm sorry your husband is going through this difficult time and can't be with his family when they most need each other... all because of some dumb rules that don't benefit ANYONE AT ALL. also the catch-22 of companies not wanting to send a dirty little letter saying they want to hire him because of the lack of EAD that requires the letter in the first place (or waiting forever). if it was only the government that was like this it'd be more understandable (still maddening and sad, but par for the course, right?)... why are companies playing this silly game too?

anyway now I'm venting a little too haha. we keep asking ourselves if maybe it wouldn't have been smarter to try to start a life anywhere else in the world, and come here with me as a tourist only often enough so that I get to know my wife's family and friends. of course not all couples have that option. but we're already on this boat now, no sense crying over spilled milk, and it's not ALL BAD here... it's just hard to keep sanity ,and wait and wait and wait.

My Argentine husband asks me this every day! We both love Argentina and I was living there for a lot of the last 2 years. In retrospect, we should have done CR1 because I ended up living there anyway. We are highly considering going back. The wait is tough, but hopefully things will turn around soon! It seems the green card interview letters aren't coming as quickly as they did for our January-March filers, unfortunately.

If you work in Argentine , it would make CR1 very quickly. I know some couples did it outside of the USA, only took them 3 months to get a green card. Amazing.

Many are not getting an update after biometrics on the website.  It's normal.

Sadly, you can totally and completely ignore whether the online case status has been updated. My K1 is still showing as Case Received, despite having been approved in January. For many, the online status has absolutely no bearing on the reality. It just boils down to whether the case handler could be bothered to update it.

Just keep an eye on the mail - annoyingly, that's all you can do!
