So the day my husband did his biometrics, we got an RFE about our joint sponsor. (It's on a separate thread). Our joint sponsor makes double of what is required and we called in about this to a tier 2 officer. The officer was confused as to why we got an RFE and sent in a review about it. Now our case says "Fingerprint Review was Completed" and the standard "We are working on your AOS and will let you know if we need anything etc etc." We haven't responded to the RFE (we will, we just ran out of ink of course) but is this weird to anyone?

Hi there guys,

Anyone here already applied for their SSN's?  I have a few questions regarding that. Or maybe a forum suggestion...

I applied a few weeks ago and now received a letter saying they cannot verify my alien status.  But when I went for the interview for SSN, the interview went really well and the lady said everything was looking good.

Sorry if this in inappropriate for this forum.

Thanks

Wouter

Has your i-94 expired? If it has expired or soon to expire they cannot issue a SSN.

Try calling them and see what they request from you.

sometimes they dont know that k1 hoder are elegible for ssn, so you need take with you the documents that show to them that you are elegible for ssn sice your I-94 isnt expired yet, so go again with this document printed and show them that you are elegible:

https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211530

print this pages and show them that k1 are elegible for ssn.

To apply for a SSN you will need to go to your local SSA office and bring the documents below. These
documents are proof of your eligibility to file for a SSN:

1.
The SS-5 form you downloaded and filled out (they have some at the office if you forget).
2.
your Passport (with the K-1 Visa in it)
3.
your valid I-94: Electronic I-94 Copy; or (for older entries) an original (and bring a front/backside copy) of a valid paper I-94

my egov.uscis.gov account just gave my this status too:

Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview

I hope that means things are actually going faster and not just "yeah we're about to schedule you... in like half a year"

hi! congraaaats! that's super quick. I remember you from k1 forum here :)
My theory is that there not so many immigrants filing in Midwest. that's why the offices are not so overwhelmed. but who knows.
Did you expedite the process anyhow? did yuo have any updates on the website?

I remember you too! Happy we made it to the next phase :)

Agreed. Not a lot of immigrants coming to the Midwest. When I went for my biometrics it was empty and I was told this process would be quick. No expedite for me, and I received updates through the APP and website.
