it's probably not exactly the same for every state, but here in PA, I went yesterday and did the knowledge test, they asked for my passport, SSN card, the NOA1 AOS letter and two proofs of address, so I guess as soon as you have those things.

I gave them the paper that came with the SSN which has my address and name, and a letter from a bank saying thanks for opening a (joint) account. you can just take one proof though, if your spouse comes with their own proof of address (ie their driver's license) confirming that you do live together.

they did say I would have to come back later though, because they needed to check with DHS that my papers were in fact legit. I wasn't in the database they had immediate access to so they're gonna take a little while to enquire (I'm guessing that's pretty normal for K1 AOSers). they'll tell me in the mail when they're done with that and I can go back, pay, and get my learner's permit then.

the test itself is 80% mindblowingly obvious questions, 5% trick questions, and 15% things you really wouldn't care about (like penalties for minors) but have to memorize anyway in case they ask. all in all very easy.

hope that helps, good luck with that!

Can you please let me know how it ended when you get the letter from them that everything is ok? I'm also from PA. Thank you for sharing, it was very helpful for me.

What happens if you miss biometrics appointment? We got out NOA 1 hard copies but it's been two weeks :(

hopefully it's just a little delayed, I got it 10 days after my NOA1. at the bottom it says "If you have any questions regarding this notice, please call 1-800-375-5283", you might want to try that. I don't mean to scare you, but it also says "IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR AS SCHEDULED, YOUR APPLICATION, PETITION, OR REQUEST WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED"... probably there were some cases where the letter didn't arrive on time and they have an appropriate way to handle it without ruining the application. I searched a little here in VJ and someone says this link https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request worked for them, so the answer should be around here if you search. I hope you get the notice in the next couple days!

Fingerprint Review Was Completed but only on https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do

on https://my.uscis.gov/account/applicant which is supposed to be more accurate, it's still

We received your biometrics fee and are reviewing your case

Today, on this other account the update has changed but with the same date:

I send our AOS package in and it was revieced and signed by a E Garcia  according to USPS on May 1st. I did include the electronic notice form in there, how long do we have to wait for an acknowledgement that they have revieced our case?

I think it's normal, just expect to wait until 3 weeks. If you haven't receive any email or text yet NOA1, then you can try to call USCIS. I received NOA1 after 11 days they received my package.

Good luck!

My status hasn't changed yet. Still the same even though I did biometric on April 26th. " We received your biometrics fee.."

Sent 4/4, received text/email on 4/15, received NOA on 4/19 in mail, received biometrics letter in mail on 4/20.

I think my biometrics letter came very quickly. It seems like it usually takes around a week?

I just finished my biometrics last week. My experience in Denver was like this: Is this really the place?! It was by a grocery store, no security, no gate, nothing. Very casual. Husband came in with me, had a phone, the lady just asked to turn it off. Had to wait for about 10 minutes for my turn. I was 1 hour early, but the lady said that's no problem. The photo, then fingerprints. The fingerprints are a lot more precise than the ones you get at POE, so it took a while, and some tries. The one of the figures didn't gen an "ok" so the lady took it several times. Then she started chatting with someone else... I don't think the monitor said "ok" but she hit "submit" anyway. She continued to chat. I asked whether it went ok, and she said yes. It was frustrating. I know the people there do this hundreds of times everyday, but I wish they know that this is a life-changing event for the applicants. Chatting while grabbing my hands to get my fingerprints. Wasn't very professional, and left me very frustrated.

Today, 3 days later, the status changed to "Fingerprint Review Was Completed" for I-485 and I-765. I-130 and I-131 still say "case was received" I am adjusting from H1B through marriage.

Marriage-based AOS from H1B

(Employer filed H1B extension before I filed AOS with spouse)

4/4/2018: AOS package (I-130, I-485, AP & EAD) sent

4/6/2018: at 5:00 arrived at Chicago office

4/15/2018: Sunday at 22:30, received email/text notification

4/19/2018: NOA (I-130, I-485, AP&EAD) arrived in mail

4/20/2018: Biometrics app letter arrived in mail

5/4/2018: Biometrics done

5/7/2018 (p.m.): I-485 and I-765 Status changed to "Fingerprint Review Was Completed"

5/9/2018 (p.m.): I-485 status changed to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview"

8/20/2018 (p.m.): I-765 status changed to "New Card Is Being Produced"

8/24/2018: Received combo card in mail

11/13/2018: Online status says "Interview was scheduled"

11/19/2018: Interview notice in mail

12/03/2018: Online status changed back to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" once again, I freaked out

12/18/2018: Attended the interview, approved on spot, status changed to "Card is being produced" within an hour

12/21/2018: "Card was mailed to me"

H1B extension (employer) at the same time as marriage-based AOS

3/23/2018: "Case Was Received"

10/16/2018: Approval letter arrives at the employer's office, online status still not updated

I don't think anyone ever sends 3 of those... I didn't. the only thing I sent 3 times of was passport-style photos (6 photos).

Just need 1, and don't need to send originals, send copies in packet of everything, take originals+copies to interview

I sent 3 copies of marriage certificate for each application to prove name change as I’m applying using my married name.

I have filed for my AOS (I 485, I 131 & I 765) on Apr 26th and received date is May 2nd.

I had filed my I-130 in July 2017 when my husband was LPR. Now he is a USC for which I filed for my Adjustment.

The NOA1 of I485 shows preference category as F2A although I should be in IR1/CR1 category now. It still has PD as July 2017.

Can anyone tell me if I need to call USCIS and ask them to rectify the category or is it normal?

Biometrics done today in New Orleans! Went good. And fast. Does the case checker change at all?

For some people it changes, for some it doesn't. It does not seem to mean much because there were people I read about for whom the status never changed but they got their interview quickly.
But for me it changed on both sites but at different times.

Hi everyone! I'm a new April filer. So glad I found this thread, had no idea there were threads for AOS progress. We filed AOS on 4/17, received date is 4/24 and notice date is 4/27 which I just finally got in the mail today. Hopefully the biometrics appt letter comes soon also.

My husband is going crazy not being able to work, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we land closer to the 3 months approval time than the 5 months I've been reading its taking lately!!

Anyone else in AZ have any experience with obtaining a state-issued ID/driver's license? We went to the MVD soon after he arrived on the K1 and he was able to get a state-issued ID but it was only valid until his i-194 expired, which was last week. So now we have to carry his passport with us all the time which I hate doing because I'm terrified of us losing it. I highly doubt the MVD will accept the NOA1 as any proof since it's not an approval notice, but wondering if its worth a try to go down to the office and see what they say. This time in-between K1 visa and EAD approval time period is so frustrating!!

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."
