Morning everyone,

I have a question. We got married on April 14th :jest:but are waiting on some documents to complete the AOS application.
Can we file Employment approval EAD and just sent that form in prior to completing the AOS?
We went to the Government Agencies and called them as well about getting his ID and Social.
They won't give my husband his SS card without his Work Permit. They won't issue an ID without the SS card. At least he'd be able to start working, he's a Teacher so has been trying to see what can be done for him to apply for employment but the AOS paperwork is pending some of our documents.

I'm just a bit confused I guess.

I suggest applying the EAD/AP together with AOS.

Based on my experience, I was able to get SSN using my I-94 and passport even before we got married. It'll take time because they need to verify it with immigration (POE). After we got married ( I already have my SSN), I then request to change my last name to my marriage name ( personal preference) which is by that time, I already had my biometrics which I showed to them as well. Even after I got my EAD then my GC I never update my SSN ( see image below for reference). Having an SSN will be a great help to establish records like DMV application or opening of bank account, etc.

So I noticed this forum doesn't have a table. I just created this one. Feel free to let me know if here should be more categories.... I've gone through my AOS but I'm tracking my friend's. He sent his on April 14th, he's yet to hear anything. Not even his check has been cashed.

So today I spent a lot of the time reading how you don't always get the update on biometrics only to receive one in the evening on Case Tracker app! Did biometrics on Friday and got an update on Monday. I know it does not mean much but it is nice!

Awesome and to us here, we get it... it means everything 🎉

How did your status change when it updated?

I have our marriage certificate and such. I feel like in the past I have read that we need to provide proof that we share a bank account and that my husband's name is on our lease..etc..

Hey there! At this point they don’t really need a proof of relationship other than your marriage certificate and the affidavit of support from the US spouse . I did mine without the lease and pictures and all and got my gc.

It's in the instructions for the I-485 on the uscis site.

Got alerted today via email and text regarding my NOA1! Hard copy soon. Not sure whether I'm a April or May filer now.

Maybe I'll just lurk both.

Guys,
I am about to start filing for AOS and wanted to ask:

My fiance and I are getting married in a church. Do people know/have experience with using their church marriage certificate to file?
Or does USCIS only take something from the courts?

Thanks!
