So I noticed this forum doesn't have a table. I just created this one. Feel free to let me know if here should be more categories.... I've gone through my AOS but I'm tracking my friend's. He sent his on April 14th, he's yet to hear anything. Not even his check has been cashed.

I received mine with the NOA1 hard copies. The bio appointment letter is likely to come in the next couple of days.

Hey, I like the idea of tracking the progress for everyone in this thread in a centralized & easy to visualize place aside from the individual timelines! Don't you think it will be a little tidier/easier for everyone if it's in a shared editable google spreadsheet, though? I'll gladly make one (or use yours) and put my info in if you agree. and put the link in my signature :P

I need to know if my husband needs to file a separate affidavit and provide income evidence if he is not the actual sponsor ( because he has no job anymore). His father is the joint sponsor. thanks!

Hi, if you don't get an answer here you may have bigger chances of finding out what you need in the main forum. It does not always work but this one is quite a small number of people in comparison with all the others, and this one is mostly visited by April AOS filers.

Morning everyone,

I have a question. We got married on April 14th :jest:but are waiting on some documents to complete the AOS application.
Can we file Employment approval EAD and just sent that form in prior to completing the AOS?
We went to the Government Agencies and called them as well about getting his ID and Social.
They won't give my husband his SS card without his Work Permit. They won't issue an ID without the SS card. At least he'd be able to start working, he's a Teacher so has been trying to see what can be done for him to apply for employment but the AOS paperwork is pending some of our documents.

I'm just a bit confused I guess.

From what I understand:

-Yes, but you pay for that EAD (category A6) and it expires along with the I-94 date (a 90-day EAD you pay for, not good).

-Depending on what state you are in, they might give him a state ID, but it will expire with his I-94.

-SS they should have issued to him (it will say that he is not authorized to work), from what I've read on here in different forums, it just depends on the person at the SS office you talk to. That is why you have to print out the instructions in the SS guide and show to the worker to issue your husband SS based on the appropriate category. BUT, even then, they might STILL not issue SS (again, from what I've read of different members), even  though they should.

-I think that he'll have to sit tight until you file AoS/EAD/AP, because even if you get him EAD (paying the fee for the A6 category) for the period of his 90 day I-94, it cannot be renewed and he will have to wait for the EAD (category C9 "free" one if you file with AoS) to come in. What that means is even if he's working for the 90 day I-94 period under the A6 category, he'll have to wait for the new EAD (C9 category) to come in to start the job again.

Now, I may be wrong, but reading the instructions of the I-765, it says the category A6 cannot be renewed, and I don't know that it can be extended. Maybe someone else can comment on their experience with this. I hope this helps (or is less confusing), if it makes it more confusing: sorry

So today I spent a lot of the time reading how you don't always get the update on biometrics only to receive one in the evening on Case Tracker app! Did biometrics on Friday and got an update on Monday. I know it does not mean much but it is nice!
