Great checklist. Thanks for posting it!

Does everyone have to fill out the I-864a?

We have the affidavit of support filled out and I believe that all I need. Since it’s only me and my husband and no other household member. Is that correct? Or am I the household member in this instance?

I have 0 income since I don’t have the work permit yet so it would not make any sense to fill out that form.

Or is it mandatory?

Congrats!

I found this cover sheet online, and it actually doubled as a good checklist. Hope this helps. (Ignore the formatting at the top, it is a table inserted into Word)

I believe G-325A is no longer used. If it is, I didn't send it!

Hopefully this is all that is required, I'm no expert, so take this as advice.

From what I can work out, it's the sponsor who only needs to fill it out I-864. If the sponsor is above the poverty line, you should only need the I-864 form. We needed the I-864A because we're transitioning from Australia to USA  and my partner would appear to be below the poverty line with regards to US income, so we got her father to fill in the I-864A as a joint sponsor/household member as they're both residing at the same address.

I think I read about ways where you could add your assets to the US citizen's income if you filled in your own I-864 as another sponsor. We chose to go the other route and get a household member. It seemed easier for our situation.

I'm pretty sure you'll be 1 household member in the I-864, but not required to fill an additional I-864/A.

A total of 2 household members if it's just your husband and yourself.

I tried to research as much as I could, I hope I'm offering sound advice, haha

The form fee is currently 1140.00

we did that correctly.

all three were sent in the same envelope.

We we have an email saying they received our AOS, not approval, correct.

I will double check the other info but filed out the way you stated here.

i just can’t figure out where this extra fee is coming from.

thank you very much

@AZSunshine78

I just read your posts. I wish i could see the letter that you got. May I know how much you paid in total?. Was it $1,225?. (for I-485 and Biometric fee, I-765, I-131)

If you paid $1,225 then you're correct and USCIS made an error to your petition. The staff there is also just human who might make a mistake.

Under filing fee:

https://www.uscis.gov/i-485

Special instructions part:

Filing Forms I-765 and I-131 with Form I-485

If you are filing Form I-485 (or already filed a Form I-485 on or after July 30, 2007), you do not have to pay an additional fee to also file a Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization and/or Form I-131, Application for Travel Document for advance parole. You may file these forms together. If you choose not to file Form I-765 and/or Form I-131 with your Form I-485, then you must submit a copy of your I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of that you filed a Form I-485.

If you filed your Form I-485 before July 30, 2007, you must pay the fees associated with Forms I-765 and/or I-131 when you file them

If i were not wrong I also found someone got this kind of experience on another filers but I forgot in which AOS filer. They return the rejection letter to USCIS with a cover letter explain about the fee and special instruction on USCIS website. and attach the print of "special instruction" and mark those note above.

I hope the problem solved. Good luck!

If it's just you and your husband, you will only need to fill up Form I-864 not Form I-864a.

Here's a sample for Form I-864. This is last year's form but it has almost the same items to fill out on the 2018 version

Welp.... guess what came in the mail.

our receipt for all our AOS stuff dated BEFORE the rejection letters.

tight hand doesn’t have a clue what the left is doing!

Still going to follow the advice of @Wuozopo and the other fine folks who helped me in such great detail.

Also said his biometrics letter is on the way.

This process tests your sanity, for sure.

Thanks and love to you all.

My husband called today about our case. We got our case number and all. I don’t get why I wasn’t emailed or texted that they received and accepted it even though I filled out the G-1145 :(

That sounds very frustrating! As usual the unpredictability is rampant... but the most important is getting your paper confirmations in the mail which I guess will come in a few days...

I am confused with the EAD fee. On the USCIS site it says the application for work is 410$ but he AOS along with Biometrics fee is $1,225. Is the 410$ included or separate? what are your guys experiences with AOS application?

Check this link, https://www.uscis.gov/i-485, as mentioned on the Special Instructions.

You will only need to pay the total of $1,225 (for AOS,EAD,AP and biometrics). You can send a single check for the said amount. The payment is already waived for Employment Authorization and Advance Parole if you file it together with the Form I-485 (AOS).
