Beneficiary's Expired Passport for I-130

Hi,

I am US Citizen and planning to apply I-130 for my brother.
I have question regarding beneficiary's passport. My brother's passport was expired last year. Since this application easily take 10-14 years, does it require to have a valid passport at this time when we apply as it will be expired till the processing date come.

So what you recommend. Should my brother get the passport renewed at this time and let it expire or we can file the application with expired passport.

 

Also Do we need to attach Affidavit of support form I-864 with this application or that is not required?
