I thought I'd post here and see :)

We are months away from the interview (months away from NOA2, actually) but wanted to start to prepare early, so I've been working on a document for proof of on-going relationship. Since there won't be any new visits, we're relying on texts, FaceTime calls and receipts of what we have sent each other.

I've searched for what Sydney requires... and I'm wondering if I'm going to over-do it. Because so far, and I've cut a few messages out, there's like 500 message screenshots. I resize them so the amount of pages will be ALOT less.

I'm wondering if this is still overkill? If we would still be okay with evidence of FaceTime calls, skype dates (where we both are in the picture), receipts of gifts, and maybe just a handful of messages per month... I want to be prepared but I don't want to spend unnecessary time on it, either, you know?

Thanks all!

The idea is to show them continuing communication.  Not constant communication.  Choose a method that works for you - conversations from the 1st and 15th of the month?  Conversations showing planning for your wedding?  Conversations talking about money or purchases?  Conversations talking about family members?  Label your pages neatly and describe your scheme for whoever is going to look over them.  Honestly - they might not even take one look.

Don't bring them 500 pages of text.  Think quality - not quantity.

Best of luck!

Thanks @Sukie. That is super helpful. I’m going to start again and cut down on the messages so I’m not bringing in 100 pages! I cringe at the thought of printing that many knowing it’s likely it won’t be needed.

I’m glad to hear Sydney Consulate is a nice place. I went there for a B2 a couple years ago, very nice. Hoping for K1 it’s just as nice!

My fiance just had his interview a few days ago in Sydney (approved!), and though he took evidence of an ongoing relationship, they didn't even look at it. In fact, in the instructions for the interview they do not ask for evidence of ongoing relationship-just the documents. They will ask questions to determine if you've continued your relationship (they asked the last time we saw each other, and when we plan to get married), and the affidavit of support shows evidence on your end since it has to be recent financial docs. You can still bring some, a few from each month possibly, but it isn't required/necessary.  Best of luck to you!

I talked to someone recently who took no additional evidence at all except the required forms.  She mentioned "Christmas" when asked the last time she'd seen her fiance and the guy flipped through her passport, saw the stamp which aligned with being in the US at Christmas, and it was approved on the spot.

I think a lot of people see stories of denials from "high fraud" countries and automatically assume a higher burden of evidence is required because of it for ALL cases.  Australia is one of the lowest fraud countries out there and from the 3-4 people I've personally spoken to who have had their K-1 and CR-1 interviews in Sydney, not a single one of them required any huge amount of proof at all. Some photos together, maybe a page or two of conversations from different dates and being able to confidently answer questions about your spouse or the application that's been done and you're set. There's no reason to overthink or panic or take in 500 pages of evidence - especially when it's ridiculously easy to manufacture call and chat records.

You don't have to take 500 pages of chat. Just take some photos with you.

But honestly when I went for my interview 2 months ago, they did not even look at the evidence that I had brought along. Just asked when I last saw him (which was the month of the interview) and approved me.
