Hi everyone, quick question. I filled my taxes as single for the past two years. Do you think it will affect my i130 application?

You may have better luck asking on the general CR1/IR1 help threads or “tax and finances during immigration” threads but the answer to your question depends on whether or not you were married for those 2 years you filed single (and more of an IRS issue than a visa issue if you were)

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

October 11 2020: Arrived in US!

My lawyer’s last email said, if it continues to take this long, at least you will have an IR1 instead of a CR1. I guess they’re paid to be positive. Haha!

That's what we are planning to do. We're approaching a year and a half of marriage. And I'm going to visit him for a couple of months soon anyway. So we're hoping to get an IR1 instead of CR1. Would be nice not to have to deal with the immigration authorities again to remove conditions!

We're at 316 days now and I've went from half-whatever into a phase of slight "paranoia", expecting it to take forever just to get an RFE "or worse". This whole waiting-process is like a rollercoaster ride, going back and forth between "it'll happen when it happens, just enjoy your time with friends and family at home while you're still there" and "...this is taking too long...anyone working?...why are there so many RFEs?...are we going to get one?...will we EVER be approved?!". Hubbs and I have yesterday set a date on which we'll be considering other options, too, if we haven't heard anything by then (other options = filing for a K-visa after all, although sub-ideal; country-alternative(s), etc.). I'm a planner, so I've had quite a few internal freak-outs lately about how it's gonna work out with job-quitting (3 month notice needs to be given), renewing phone plans and other contracts now - and for how long (versus cancelling stuff now, and getting (more expensive, but easier to get out of) month-by-month), etc. - with processing times getting longer (it showed 7.5-9 months when we filed, vs the 11-14.5 now), the planner in me is going a bit crazy lol. I'm sure this phase of feeling unsettled and anxious will pass again, but I fully understand setting a personal "deadline" at the end of which alternatives will be more seriously considered.

I need a deadline because to be sincere , I am tired of all that . The year have been complicate with that , the loss of my mom and other things .

Too much “unfair “‘stuff and I am exhausted .

officially I am in the process since August 2018 but we started our process in May 2018 and they lost our file and never admit it . So I am like “I have enough” lol

Same here. Oyyyy~~~

I start to feel resigned . To think about September seems to be more realistic on my side ( but if it’s before I will be happy 🤪

. Don’t want to yell or anything else anymore . It’s just a loss of energy and they drained me lol

If someone tell me that I will have to wait a year just for the 1 st step I don’t know if I will do it honestly .

I could've typed this, this is exactly how I feel, but I was talking to my husband yesterday, and we decided that he is coming to visit again in september, and I am already freaking out about that too, bc I really want him to come, but also super afraid he will be needed in the U.S for something related to the process (even though I don't think so, we're doing it through a lawyer), but my advice is: don't give up now, you have waited so long already, every time I freak out, I remind myself that we are more than halfway through the process, probably even more than 2/3 of it, it just doesn't feel like it, because nothing has changed, the other phases go way faster, that helps me stay calm

I do have to say that this immigration process has drained me to the end, I have asked for a reduction on my schedule at work, because I just feel so drained and tired, that I was not being able to handle it, and honestly, this is not who I am, I have always been a hard worker (kind of way too much), but after some therapy sessions and talking to some friends, I made this decision, all the stress for my jobs (I have 2) plus this process were draining the life out of me. And my husband and me deal with it in complete different ways, while I am trying to get as informed as I can, because if I feel in the dark, I will go crazy, he simply tries not to see anything related to that, only checks his mail and email, because if he does more than that, he will go crazy

BUT I saw an august 24th approval on FB today (he was approved july 20th) so that gave me hope
