Hi! September filers here with an NOA1 of 09/21 :) I’m the beneficiary and I live in Canada, my husband is a USC. We had filed for a K1 last February but decided last summer to withdraw it, get married and apply for a CR1 instead. Anyway! It feels like we’re back to square one now and we’re a little bit worried about processing times in Nebraska :( hopefully it won’t take more than a year... Good luck to all!

How do you guys deal with the wait? Do you manage to visit often? Sometimes it feels like this step of our life is never going to end and that we'll always be apart... It's so emotionally tiring having to say goodbye all the time and missing out on events and daily life things. Of course work and activities keep you busy but it can be so dull without my partner...

If you visit often then it will even hurt you more saying good bye physically. Its been 8 months for me, after 5 to 6 months it gets better and you will be used to it. I went under depression, I was put on meds which helps me coup. Don't look at that way that your missing out, that's what I was thinking and it made me feel very bad, think of this way, you both have two different life temporarily. Me and my wife fight a lot because of this long distance, but after 8 months we are used to fighting and we just bounce back after every fight right away. Irritation is a b****, even more its the time zone difference for me. Once you get used to these life style its much easy on your brain, and your brain knows the routine and it stops over thinking about you loved ones.

I know what you mean about getting used to it, time does help, and about having separate lives temporarily. We try to make the most of it by both working hard at our jobs, especially for me since I just started my career and I want to get significant work experience so that I can find something good in the US. At first I was feeling very impatient but then I learned to accept the situation, and decided to see this as a team bonding experience rather than a bad one :) if we can make it through that and still be happy together then we can make it through anything.

We've been doing that since last Christmas though, and now we still have at least a year to go since we applied first for a K1, withdrew then applied for a CR1. Plus our case ended up in Nebraska! We're lucky that we don't have a big time difference, we get to visit each other sometimes and we don't fight. It's more so the processing times being so long that it feels like this lifestyle is all we'll ever get and also I can't help thinking that the time we don't spend together now is time we'll never get back... I'm killing time until I can move really because, even though I live in a nice place and I like my job, I can't focus on the future which is my life with my husband and my career there.

Anybody else feels this way?

How long did you spent time together before living away from each other? Cuz we spent less then a month together after marriage.
