It’s compulsory and were given for free to everyone. I guess they will need to do a test then.

Same with my tdap (but as that is either way necessary I wont test that one) For others I believe they do the test there, but be careful about the timeline then as it may add a few days to get results.

How much did your vaccines cost each? Did you get them done in Kanagawa? (Thanks everyone, and also bruising after a vaccine is crazy! They're not big needles like for an IV. O_O)

I didn't get them I just did the titer test. I'll let you know if I get them.

Rubella is free for Yokohama residents (I believe most places has this) and if you don't have immunity the vaccine was 3000 yen.

For rest it differs with the clinic but looks like it's between 3000-6000 yen.

This has vaccinations (is not only K1 but all immigrant visas) Hep B is not a requirement for people over the age of 18.

Very True!!

In Nigeria, the vaccines given to the Applicants as at last month (March) are;

*TD

*MMR

*Varicella

*Polio

Thanks for the info. It seems the medical exam places do it for 5000-7000 yen just FYI. (Well except for the meningococcal vaccine which is being quoted for 23000+ at the Seibo Catholic Hospital, but it's not needed after the age of 19 I think.)

Exactly not needed, for vaccines you can do wherever you want but just have the proof and that’s it. I’ll just take titer test results with me.

Ah, you have Tdap, MMR and Varicella already?

I have MMR and Varicella from childhood so that's what I am doing the tests for.

Rubella test is done and I don't need it and Measles as I already had it as a kid, I just need to tell them that.

Mumps and Varicella are the ones I am testing right now.

For Tdap, Tdap is usually done at the age of 10-11, however it is a vaccination that requires to be boosted every 10-12 years with at least TD vaccine. so I will get it as I didn't had that one since I moved to Japan.

Information is the hardest thing to get out of any of the agencies in these steps 🤷‍♀️

Yes, putting all the pieces together to know what we should do each step of the way is like an easter egg hunt.  A piece of information here, a piece there,  all buried somewhere in a US Government agency website.

My fiancee started with her immunizations 6 months ago with testing to see what she needed.  (She did not have any childhood records).  We started with the Hep A sequence because we were not sure.   I guess since we started, it will not hurt to finish, especially she being in Thailand.  She is only pending a second MMR shot and i guess the second "optional" Hep A.  In Thailand Hep A is recommended for all visitors, so I had my series of Hep A shots several years ago.  Depending on where you are living or plan to visit in the future, Hep A vaccination can be a good thing.

Congrats..

and yep it’s a silent noa2 day. Which makes me really happy to be able to see this now and realize we were right when thinking they were approving in the background when numbers were low in daily scans 😁
