Anyone using a joint sponsor ? I’m a little confused as I’m independent, so my household number is 1. My mother lives in my house and has a dependent (my brother) but her household info is 2. If she were to be our joint sponsor

1) what form would I use because I know there are 2 different ones depending on wether or not you live together & are on their taxesΒ

2) would she need the income requirements for a household of 3Β or4

Β

any Info would help! Thanks :)

1) what different form? Taxes?

2) 3 as she has only 1 dependent and when you add the fiancΓ© it will be 3. (You don’t count as the household here means dependencies)

I was told that I use the I-864A (it could be a number off ) if she lives in my household Β (I’m assuming they meant dependencies like you just stated)Β but a separate form if otherwiseΒ

Well probably for the AOS you will need that. However the form for k1 interview stage is I-134. I-864(and is sub forms) are binding forms for immigration cases. I-134 should be the one to use for k1 as it is not legally binging and temporary.Β

Β

If if you haven’t got specific instructions from your embassy on this the form is I-134. And this does not have a sub form like I-864.

So I would fill one out and so would my joint sponsor ?

Yes one for each sponsor.Β

Β

There is no real β€œjoint” in k1 cases. So there won’t be any check like I-864. Don’t worry about that.Β

Β

You will put yourself as petitioner and write infor on the person you petitioned. Your co-sponsor won’t have those info as they didn’t petition. But will have info on the person they’re sponsoring.

Hey did you return your RFE? I believe it was just a copy of your Nigerian passport?Β

Not yet I accidentally left it at home whilst rushing for work. They want an actual picture no older than 30 days old and asked if I have any criminal record which I don'tΒ Β

Please pardon if I am having an un-warranted worry here, but:

Β

Here are the latest stats available in the August thread:

Β

image.png.3fc5c8313a9260eb2d8e95489d0dc1d6.png

Β

Is it really possible that >30% could still be waiting for approval in two months? (50% if you include the RFE's)

Am I looking at this right?

Β

Please advise before I freak out a little bit..

Β

Best,

Β

Β

P.S.: sorry for double posting at root level... Β Still learning how to use this thing.
