are there any divorcees from Colombia who can share insight on the proper documentation to prove a divorce is complete and final? My lawyer is freaking me out and making me doubt whether we actually have the correct document for his divorce decree.. She is asking if it is "registered". My fiancé swears that it is finalized and I believe it is by comparing it to the required documents listed on the travel.gov site.... would be nice to confirm with someone who also has this experience.

I’m from colombia too. When I did the translation of my divorce decree I went to the official site of the U.S embassy and from there they directed me to the official Colombian Cancillería. There you can search by State and city wich ones are the official Translators that work with the U.S embassy. The sadly part is that YES you do have to translate every page of the decree (I did it) but the good part is that some of the translators Charge around $10 US dollars (the cheapest one) or $20 dollars (the expensive ones) you can call them and ask for different prices. Thank you so much! Wow I wish I had this from the beginning. I already sent it in to get translated in the US because our last experience with translation in Colombia was very stressful but we will be doing this again in a few years for his son so I am going to hang on to this link. 

 

Another question for you about the final divorce decree... ours says escritura pública numero: mil veintidós (1022).. it doesn’t actually say “divorce decree” but do you know if this is the one the US is looking for?

I will think is fine If is the one they give you at the Notary. My divorce decree was finish in Panama since I was married there but For what I found out. It’s the same that in colombia and mine doesn’t say “divorce decree “ neither. It just says Juzgado Primero and the date we got divorce  then my name  *** and my exhusband name *** are legally getting divorce and plus another 20 pages of legal words 🙄. Don’t worry. I think it will be alright. I hope you get your approval soon! 🙏

Maria and I have decided not to pursue our relationship. Good luck to all that are going forward. I received a RFE dated 4/10. Our NOA1 is dated 10/13/17. I have notified USCIS but I'm not sure how to eliminate our profile on Vias Journey. Any idea how to do that?

Ok.. yea his doesn’t say anything about juzgado primero but it does say “divorcio ante notario y adjudicación liquidación sociedad conyugal”..  it has to be what they’re looking for.

I tried to look for you as well, but did not see anywhere to deactivate in account settings... you can probably just remove all the info you have on your profile and turn off notifications.

hmm.. sounds like somebody got cold feet . if it were me , i wouldnt rush and do anything at uscis. just let things expire naturally . who knows ? in the meantime feet might get warm again ...

I know its crazy!  . I think yours is perfect. as long as it have the word "DIVORCIO" on it thats what they need. I'm Glad I could help you!
