Feb 2nd receipt date - waiting on case number and when I spoke to a supervisor just now she said its going through "final security checks" and could still be a few more weeks from now. Praying that is not true. Those who recently got case numbers assigned - they didn't give you any sense of hope over the phone right? It sounds like it just appears in your inbox? 10 weeks and 1 day today. @aywang @MahiAS

Hi everybody,

Thought I would share this: so I just called again for our case number (we're in week 7 now, and they still don't have one :( ), and the operator told me that last week, they finished assigning case numbers to CEAC cases received in January.

He also said that once you hit the eight-week mark, they can escalate and send the case to a supervisor. I'm hesitant to do this; it'll just be a new line and they'll take another six weeks, right?

I asked about this specifically - they said sending to a supervisor doesn't put you in a different category. It's just a "flag" to notify the supervisor that you are above the 8 week time limit. And they then have a 6 week deadline to review it but it doesn't change anything about where your case is in line. Honestly, I don't think it does anything because they are so behind 8 weeks isn't even realistic anymore. Seems more like 10 weeks. They just started feb 1st receive dates at the end of last week.

Yeah, I thought so. Thanks for confirming. This is ridiculous and exhausting. When we started this whole process, we thought I'd be in the US in March at the latest... OH WELL. We've become so good at waiting, I might just put it as a special skill on my C.V.

I totally hear you. I've gone through all the emotions throughout this process. NVC has been way more painful than I-130 was - we were approved in december. Have just landed at the realization there is nothing to do but wait. And even calling NVC doesn't seem to help much because they will just tell you the same thing and it's even more disheartening. Sounds like case numbers for pivots are coming via email so just have to keep an eye out.

Unfortunately we already paid the lawyer in full...suppose to be the best immigration lawyer in Central Florida, but what annoys me the most is that we expedited the I 130 because my hubby is in a war country and the lawyer knows that. So if the expedited was approved and he knows we want him here in the USA then why take your time with the paperwork? That's what's getting me annoyed the most.

Congratulations on your CC. I'm hoping ours will get CC quickly too...but first it must be sent! 😞

I'm in Central Florida as well. What lawyer did you use?

Just an update:

Pivot case

case received 1/31

received case number 4/11

paid iv and AOS fees 4/12

shown as paid 4/14

DS 260 / IV / AOS documents submitted 4/15

now just wait...fingers crossed and praying for a quick case complete.

Hoping for a quick case complete for you!

How long after the money was taken out of your bank account did it appear as “paid.” Same day?

I got an email early this morning that the money was taken out of my bank account but it still appears as “in process” on CEAC. Maybe I’m being too impatient.

I had been getting the “final security checks” thing off and on for 2 weeks. Some reps told me that and others gave me the standard response that it is with a supervisor and wait up to 6 weeks. Don’t pay attention to anything they say. It should appear in your inbox soon!

Hi guys, is non-pivot case getting a case number shorter timeframe than pivot case? I saw somewhere VJs people said that non-pivot case is taking around (4-6 weeks) and pivot case is around (6-8 weeks). Can anyone clarify this again for me? Thank you and good luck to you all ^_^^_^

Calling NVC to confirm if they have receive your case is just for peace of mind. Making sure  your case didn't get lost when USCIS send it to NVC. There have been few of those. You'll still get your case number in email/mail. But if you get the case number over the phone you don't have to wait till you get your mail to start the process. It might save you some time in long run.
