Hello Everyone,

I am filling out form I-864 to sponsor my wife and I have a couple of questions:

Part 5: in Item 8 I am supposed to calculate from items 1-7. The numbers kind of do not add up correctly :(

I am only sponsoring my wife and I do not have any kids or anyone else in my household! so the final number should be 2, right? but if I put 1 for Item 1, and one for Item 2 and one for Item 3, I will end up with 3 in the household size! I feel I am making a mistake by putting 1 in the 'yourself ' Item, what do you think?

My second question is about Part 6, item 24.a where it is asking about the total income of last year. I filed taxes joint with my ex wife. should i include the total income in the tax (mine and my ex's)? or should I just put the amount for my part?

Thank you in advance

1. for item 3 you will NOT put 1 because ur sponsoring only wife which u counted on item 1 and top says do not count any member of ur household more than once. im only sponsoring my wife and my total is 2. 1 from item 1 and one for item 2.

2. write total income which counts both but provide YOUR w-2 to show just ur income. u can also add a note why ur including ur w-2 because u filed joint and has both the income and ur giving w2 just to show ur income. from wiki:

"If you filed jointly, then make sure you use the combined income (since it doesn't separate the incomes) and then submit W2s to show individual income".
