I was just wondering if anyone could tell me:

1. It seems that it says the applicant/benficiary will need to bring their petitioners' original birth certificate with them to the interview

(Along with originals&photocopies of everything else)

Is that true..? I mean..I CAN mail my husband my original birth certificate, but it's the only one I have...I wish just a photocopy of mine could suffice..

2. Do we write our NVC case number on EVERY page we mail in to the NVC? Are there certain pages we should not write on?

And just to give an update,

Our AOS fee finally updated to "PAID" on Monday, April 9th, on the 7th business day since I made the payment on 3/31,

And our IV fee updated to "PAID" on Wednesday, April 11th, also on the 7th business day since I made the payment on 4/3.

So the IV Application was unlocked upon it updating to "PAID", and my husband & I completed the form the next day (yesterday) on 4/12.

Now all that's left is mailing in the AOS/IV Packet, which I really wanted to do before, but thanks to conflicting information from USCIS and the NVC about how long police certificates are valid for, we are waiting on a new police certificate to arrive in the mail for my husband. Once it does, we can finally mail our packet.

We were told 12 months, and then 6 months, and his police certificate is now 7 months old because we got it ahead of time last year when we thought this process wouldn't take this long & when we thought they were valid for a year--which we still believe they are but we cant trust that anymore due to conflicting information..

1) No, you don’t need the petitioner’s original birth certificate/passport. Only the beneficiary’s.

2) Highly recommended in case papers go missing. You don’t need to write it on the document cover sheet (the bar coded one)

3) Poice certificates are valid for a year unless there’s a shorter validity stated on it.

I thought we had to wait a few weeks before we could pay the fees. We can pay the fees immediately? Could I get more information on this step?

Just login when you get the case number and see. I could pay AOS the day after I got case number. And 2 days later I could pay IV because we got them to review the DS 261 on the phone.

Okay, thank you!

The NVC rep I got/asked about the length of validity for the UK police certificate length of validity asked her supervisor and they said they believe 6 months even though I don't see it on the certificate saying that, I feel I can't trust we won't have trouble with it in case whoever reviews it also deems it expired after 6 months :/ he's already ordered another police certificate but I just wish I was able to mail the packet right this moment considering I have his 7 month old one on hand and am ready to mail it otherwise...

Anyway thanks again :)

Acording to your case number what day of the year was your case created? Was it today ? You can figure it by couting the days so far this year plus 500 along with the 3 consular letters and 2018 and the last 3 numbers indicate your turn for that day.

Try asking another UK filer to see if you have any luck. There’s a mod who’s very knowledgeable about UK filing. JFH or something 😁

Call NVC to review your DS-261 or you could be waiting a couple of weeks!

Yes, you take originals of these. As well as originals of YOUR civil documents.

You do not need the petitioner’s original passport. Copies of biographic page will do.

But I spoke with NVC and the said I don’t need to bring my petitioner’s originals that I should take photocopies of his documents to the interview

So does this mean that the original documents that will be carried to the interview are only that of the beneficiary and only photocopies of the petitioner’s documents including tax returns etc?

That process has been slightly different for people who are submitting the whole application online vs those who are e-mailing the documents vs. mailing them. It is also different for people who received their case numbers via phone or received the official welcome letter from NVC. I received my case and invoice ID number via email this morning and I was able to log in right away and pay both the AOS and IV fees.

It was created yesterday, the same day as I got the email.

Thanks! I don't think we get an email about that. The only time we get an email is when they leave a message for us and that is usually to ask for more information or correct any issues with the documents submitted. I will probably check 2-3 times a day or more time if time permits starting Monday.
