No you do not have to bring the petitioners original passport. only a copy of the biographic page. and copies of stamps if you're using that as proof to show they came to visit you.

What is the period of validity of the criminal record?

According to the NVC website, 1 year but I believe it varies by the country. My husband got one and there was an expiration date on the certificate of 6 months. So if there is no expiration date listed on the police certificate, then it should be 1 year otherwise follow the shorter date.

Finally!!! Got our case number today!! 10 weeks + 1 day. I paid both the fees and they are "in process" right now. It looks like they are taking about 2 days to enter cases for 1 day. Today, they are on February 1st. Hang in there everyone! I was so disappointed yesterday but so hopeful and happy today. It'll be your turn soon!

Pivot case

NVC received case:  February 1st

Case number assigned:  April 13

ahhh Congratulations!!! I'm glad we both received our case # today. I was able to log in and pay the two taxes as well. Now is just wait till get the "paid" status and next step  is to fill up form ds-260 right?

Thsnks!! So glad we’re one step closer.

Then we can fill out DS-260 and submit all the supporting documents as well. I think all of that opens up once the status is changed to “paid.” Get all of the documents ready. I have them all scanned in and saved on my computer. Make sure all documents are in portrait and each document size is less than 2 MB.

I hope everything continues to move fast for us! There has been some delays with the fees lately but after everything is submitted, I’ve been seeing CCs in 1-3 weeks. I hope it’ll be a quick process after this!!

Yes, you take originals of these. As well as originals of YOUR civil documents.

You do not need the petitioner’s original passport. Copies of biographic page will do.

I thought we had to wait a few weeks before we could pay the fees. We can pay the fees immediately? Could I get more information on this step?
