what was the reason for checklists. Please tell me so that I could avoid a possible checklist :(

my lawyer believed they won't need I 864a fro my husband and w-2 household member. As his salary and stuff was efficient however it turns out they still needed those documents so we had them ready we did few changes and sent it to them

However NVC were quick they scanned my docs on April 3rd and got checklist day later so hoping to get cc soon

Thanks a lot for helping me out :) You don't know how valuable the help that you extend are to me.

Thanks a ton for this! :) Have you sent your AoS and IV packets to the NVC

Yes, I sent off my AOS and IV packets to NVC last week, even before the DS-260 opened up. Once I had paid both fees, the packages were sent. They do take 3 days to reach if mailing within the US, so I am glad I did that because my DS-260 opened a day after NVC received the packages. I don't have a scan date yet though. I will give them a couple more days before calling :)

This process is long, difficult, demoralising at times, and definitely fraught with lots of worries about doing things wrongly. And some things are just not obvious from the official instructions, so I am very grateful to all the selfless and generous help VJ members have provided here, and I think it is only right for me to pay it forward!

I just don't get it when I read about how lawyers don't know things or 'believe' some things that are wrong. The VJ community's combined experience and advice far surpass most lawyers, it seems, for relatively uncomplicated cases at least!

That one is, thanks for sharing it. Also let me threw this out there to not forget, lots of pages for those doing CEAC we learned to scan all pages on portrait mode if not that will triger a check list.. just fyi

I think one of you CEAC guys should start a checklist thread just for CEAC cases!

So true sometimes as per their experience we do follow what we're asked. However even NVC can be unpredictable. I always believe it is good to send all documents so NVC don't come back asking for more. Rather then sending only those, lawyer think is needed.

However we all have waited so long adding another week is like whatever. we can just keep patience. Hope this whole messy process is over soon

My Name is different in passport and marriage certificate. Full name in passport and initials of surname in marriage certificate. If I have to get a 'one and the same' certificate from my place, it would take some time. I read somewhere that if you write a self signed cover letter stating that the name as given in the marriage certificate and the passport pertains to the same person, it is sufficient. What are your views? :(

This is the hurdle I have to cross to send my packages.

Hi everyone--I have a question:

My joint sponsor & I prepared our I-864 forms at the end of February just to be prepared for when NVC was ready for those forms...and I just discovered they released a newer I-864 now that says expires 3/31/2020.

So, I'm redoing those forms.

My question is, am I allowed to fill out my joint sponsors I-864 and just have him sign it?

I just feel bad asking him to fill it out all over again, and he's a truck driver so he's rarely home/has limited free time...if he has to do it himself again we'll make it work, I just hate that they released a new form right after we filled out the previous one.

Thanks for any help

Found on the webpage

03/06/18. Starting 05/16/2018, we will only accept the 03/06/18 edition. Until then, you can use previous editions. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the form and instructions

Oh wow - thank god!!! I am so happy for you as that means things are moving along. So I guess the email does come automatically because you called earlier in the day right??

I called at 9:15 pm EST or so, and the person told me the story about supervisor reviewing, and takes them up to six weeks after sending to supervisor story....

Then at 11:30 pm EST, my hubbie whatsapped me saying that he got the welcome letter in e-mail.  I checked my e-mail and there it was.  It was sent at 11:13pm EST.

So basically you can ignore the story that they tell you when you call...just call for case number, if not available, hang up....and continue checking e-mails.

That is great to hear - I was so disheartened hearing what the rep said last night when I called for the second time. I just CANNOT believe I'm sitting here waiting for a case number almost 4 months from when my I-130 was approved... but really happy to hear things are moving along. Please keep us posting on the next phase of the process, congrats!

Wow!!!like the pages that came with the welcome letter?so where will I place them is it after the cover sheet?

No, you only include the Document Cover Sheet that came with the welcome letter. I think the previous response was that yes, you include all the documents applicable to your case listed on the Document Cover Sheet.
