My wife is trying to pay the AOS fee but it keep saying error!,is it because of the DS-261 need to be review by NVC first???

No. I did DS-261 and paid AOS fee together. I am not surprised people are getting errors. There is some really crappy system going on there :P

Okay trust me it's coming the review department is moving quick these days.

Yeah they're! which is amazing however NVC have been so efficient that all cases are being piled up for embassy and they've been taking 2 months for scheduling specially in Mexico and India as per excel sheet ... :|

Guys has anyone been in this situation:

NOA2: january 25

called NVC February 20 and they said they received it February 12

called again March 8 and they said still under process and has been raised to a supervisor and to allow 6 weeks.

called again today april 6 and they said that they received it March 15 and will need 8 weeks!! how does it change on their system like that and why is there inconsistency? 9 weeks till now and still no case number.

Same exact thing happened to me, but after Like 2 weeks or less from the new date I received a case number. Good luck AND dont worry you will GET a case number soon.

Sorry, but you are getting wrong tax advice. You should seek the advice of your tax adviser or recommend a CPA. You can claim your non-resident spouse and file a Joint tax return, but it is very complicated. You file Married single, you get the absolute worse tax rate and loose many credits. You would need to obtain an (ITIN) number or apply for one. Still can file by just stating you applied for one you leave SS # for spouse blank. Even if non-resident for the purpose of taxes filing, treat your spouse as a resident alien for tax purposes. If you choose this option, you can file a joint tax return with your spouse. You will get the exemption for your spouse, but all your spouse's worldwide income will be taxed by the United States. This is where it gets complicated. Also, DO NOT file single or NVC might doubt validity of your marriage or have questions why you claim as single. …. Did I say this was very complicated??? It is and you cannot e-file must file paper return.

I have a quick question. :(

My full name was used with an abbreviation for my surname in all the documents apart from my Passport. In my marriage certificate, I have the abbreviation "M S" and not the full surname. But in passport, and the i130 and NVC process, I used the expanded form as in Passport. Will this cause a checklist for me?
It's urgent my dear friends :( Else, I'll have to apply for "one and the same" certificate here in India. Please help! :'(

We received our Case Number, Welcome Letter , AoS Invoice Number and Cover Sheet on email....After we pay the AOS. Are the NVC will send Another Invoice Number for IV payment?

I just called the NVC and I was told that my case has been entered into the system but that a case number has not yet been generated. I was told it should happen this week. I did receive an invoice number from the agent. Is there anything I can do or do I have to continue to wait?

No, it is the same case number and invoice number that you use. After you fill in your DS-261 (and pay AOS, if it is available), call them and have them review over the phone. Otherwise it might take a while for the IV fee to open up.

They are just not very efficient...I didn’t see one single pivot case number last week...what is wrong with their system?

when the case was sent to NVC, my daughter was finishing up her finals...now, she is studying for her mid-terms and I still haven’t got the case number! Oh well, at least I have something to take my mind off  stupid NVC for now

I think it's a combination of inefficiency and a crappy system. I don't know how, with technology and electronic processing and all these days, that they can't immediately update information. For that matter, when the case moved from USCIS to NVC, why the need to generate a different case number? Why isn't there some kind of system that they can just scan a barcode in and then move on from there? But again, I was aghast when I learnt that there is no 'national' identification system in the US. It took me a very long time to work my head around it, coming from a small country where our national identification number is used for everything and just keying that into any system will bring up all kinds of history. I always joke that my government even knows when we last farted :P But I digress.

You will have to get used to the efficiencies (or lack thereof) of the US when u move....Singapore and Hong Kong are both so efficient....we are so spoiled! (I was just in Sing with the family during Chinese New Year...great place). You will have to learn to walk slower, be more patient at banks and any government agencies...
