No unfortunately there is no way to know

However mine and many other people in this community have been getting scan dates in 2 -3 days after mail has been received by NVC.

That's what I thought, thanks. I think mine may have been scanned in as my visa category has changed from CR1 to IR1.

hey guys..quick question...I have posted here earlier about my case but here's a quick summary..my case was sent to be assigned as PIVOT but I needed to request for an embassy change so they assigned me a case number in the PIVOT case and then I got the embassy change request approved via email and a new case number..but I never officially received a "welcome letter" saying I should send my stuff in...

My problem is that I have all the documents ready to go except the document cover sheet. I have been waiting for a week already and didn't get anything. I was going to wait on the welcome letter but I was thinking, I have the barcoded cover sheets for the AOS packet and the IV packet as well as a confirmation from DS-260 with the barcode for the new case number. I was going to label each page with our case number and just send it in on monday. Worst case scnario they give me a checklist for the coverpage? at that point they will have to send me the coversheet right?

I just want my part to be over with. Does this sound like a good plan or a stupid plan?

Hello guys, please I have a question,my international passport is in my maiden name,do I need to change it before I can get a visa?

no because you will still need your maiden name to match passport on DS-260 to issue a visa. If you have time to change to married name quickly before you submit ds-260 then its up to you. They know that you are married

I'm not sure about that however my lawyer mentioned that ds 260 could be edited by the initial officer and then is forwarded to American consulate who interviews you. so should be fine however I'm not still doubting if I should or not as I would like to know who have similar experience. lawyer would be saying through experience no doubt in it. However NVC and embassies are unpredictable sometimes.

To play safe bet its best to leave it as it is as per me but it should be fine if changed.

Thank you for the input. I'm sure either way should be fine. It's much better to match the married name from the first place on I-130 petition, passport changed, all the way to issue a visa nicely :)

I mentioned passport name awhile ago. I would recommend to ask NVC because of ds-260 to match the passport name to issue a visa. For the green card I'm unsure about it. Ask others for their opinions :)
