I wrongly chose consulate that doesn’t conduct interview for Immigrant visa when I petition for I 130. NVC gave me case number and Invoice number with the wrong consulate code and when I tried to put in the website to choose Agent and pay fees, the below message pops up.

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error.

When I called NVC, the representative told me to send an e-mail (ASKNvc) to change to another consulate which hold immigrant visa interview and I did accordingly. I don’t know how long this might take.

Anyone who had the same experience, Please Share!

I also was getting this message initially. You need to wait for the welcome letter. Or atleast a few days (4 days for me) for the portal to accept your case number. Till then you will get this message even though your consulate is right. If you just received your case number and IIN I think you should wait for a couple of days more. :)

Sorry about that, please did you certify the documents before sending it to NVC?

Just a quick question what do you mean by certifying? Do you mean notarising? I thought that that is not required. O means just to double check it? A lot a people get checklists for not putting n/a on empty spots. Maybe i am missing something

What's sent to NVC need not be certified. Just photocopies of the originals. And yes, I agree with that part about people getting checklists for not putting N/A so I got my husband to look through every single one and N/A everything. Lol.

Wait you can't do MFJ your spouse doesn't have a SSN. Right? If you filed MFS you are fine you just can't file single. So if you did file married filing separately just leave it until your spouse arrives in the US and get a SSN then you amend to MFJ. The thing is in my case for example MFJ would have gotten me a $2000 refund. If I filed MFS I owe $1400. So here's what I've done. I filed MFS paper filed wrote NRA where ever it asked for SSN. Will pay the $1400 sucks but theres nothing I can do. You used to be able to amend to MFJ and then they would send you the refund. But that no longer works since 2015. I rather pay the $1400 file correctly and not risk putting in danger our case. So if you filed married separately leave it.

i will still try to change to joint and see if i can get refund because i will loose 3k if i keep it as mfs. so to fix this i wouldve preferred to file extension and use 2017 w2 to show income and this way i dont pay anything now, dont lose any money and still get job done but i didnt know this path before
