Do I need I need to certify my documents eg marriage certificate etc before sending them to NVC?

No. I don’t think so. You just need to send copies.

I don't need to certify any docs to NVC but to make sure the copies are clear & readable. The originals need to be shown at the interview.

But suppose you don't have your birth certificate and you furnish an affidavit from someone who was present while you were born, then you need to get it notarized. Not required if you have the required document and you are just sending a copy.

My brother-in-law has already gone through this process for his wife. Don't worry it's not required unless you don't have any of the required document

If you are not sure or has a lawyer doing your petition then he or she will know what to do. Or you can do with your handwriting " certified true copy " highlighted or either buy a stamp like this below.

I am doing mine electronically...so there is definitely no need to notarized for mine.

That is perfectly fine. It's not required to be notarized.

still no case number for me (pivot case with received date of January 31st; 9 weeks and 2 days now) but at least the person I talked to today was actually nice.

 

He said everything has been inputted and is in the line for case number since March 30th. I should be getting the case number by next week at the latest. 

 

When  will this saga ever ends? Sometimes I just think I shouldn’t even bother calling....perhaps I will just wake up one morning with the case number in my email.
