I have a quick question.

My husband's interview is on May 29th in Ciudad Juaraz (Mexico). The day before is Memorial Day and of course the consulate will be closed. My question is, will the clinics and finger print place also be closed?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I believe they will be closed. i recommend you going before couple days before and get everything done. on monday memorial day you can prepare for the interview.

Thank you for your response. I figured it All would be closed, but I told my husband I would double check. He wants to spend as few days as possible there. Unfortunately our family does not think its safe for me to go. I want to go, but I will stay here in case he needs me to send him some paperwork ASAP. God will take care of him.

Yes God will guide him and take care of him and he will be approved.

I am in that situation too my family says not to go but my husband never been anywhere else than his town in mexico and he gets really nervous so I decided to go with him because our attorney will be giving me the packet of my husband for the interview and I don't really want to send that through mail. I have been doing all the paperwork and for my husband he is in mexico and does not know a whole lot of the processing things. He only knows what he hears from others experience but I keep him up to date of what I learned and tell him the questions that are most likely to be asked by the immigration officer.

Will your husband wait for the packet in Juarez?

My husband is here in the states already, we did 1601A waiver. Like you, I have done all of our paperwork and I know all of the information, name of forms, what to expect etc. Our journey has been a long one. My husband will wait for the visa in CDJ, but I will send with him all of the necessary paperwork when he goes to CDJ for the actual interview. :(  We cant accompany them in the interview so maybe my time is best spent here, I will just have to make sure I label everything and practice with him. They are worried bc they say I am a kidnapping waiting to happen (small, brown, southern accent, lol).

I wish him the very best.

How long did the I601A take ? My mom is getting ready to send out her waiver.

I have read in here of others experience they felt safe but the thought of all the violence going on right now in Mexico it's scary.

It took me 9 months to write the waiver and compile all of the evidence that was needed, then 8 months to receive the approval. I found out I was approved by putting our "MSC" receipt number into the USCIS site, check my status. The offical approval letter/paperwork came in the mail about a week later. When you get your waiver approval, make sure that USCIS sends it to NVC. Our waiver did not get sent and I had to stay on them as of course, my husband cant leave the country without that. Contact NVC and ask them if they have the waiver once it gets approved. If they dont, you may have to get a supervisor involved. USCIS will try to make you pay for an I824 (which we did, but to no avail), when all you really need is to contact NVC and let them handle getting it from USCIS.

The forum Immigrate2us.net was EXTREMELY helpful when writing the waiver. They had examples of good waiver, examples of bad waivers to let you know what to do and what not to do. I thank God for finding that place. The link is listed below. Please have your mom, or someone else check the I601 or I601A waiver forums before she submits her waiver. They also do RFE's for waiver, but thank my God we did not get one. We received a straight out approval, no additional information required. I have included the link below.

I really hope this info is helpful. God bless you. We are almost finished-to HIM and HIM alone be the glory!
