It usually only takes 3-5 days. I have had it take as few as 3 if you send it early in the week. If you transfer the money straight from your bank account to transferwise that takes a day as long as you do it early or mid week, then they get it and transfer it to the receivers bank. You will get emails and updates all along the way. Below you can see my last transfer I sent on Sunday the 25th of March 2018, and it was in her account on the 28th of March, so three days.

Sun 25th

You set up your transfer

Sun 25th

We received your USD

Tue 27th

We paid out your THB

Wed 28th

Your money arrived in Kamonchat account

awesome - thanks a million for this review! :)

that helped a lot

N-400: 12/05/2023 (confirmed fingerprints are re-used)

Interview scheduled for: 05/09/2024

You should try WorldRemit https://www.worldremit.com/en/United-States. I have been using them to transfer money between the US and Canada for the past year. They have a flat fee of $3.99 and max transfer of $40k.

the fees very often are of little importance and just posted to distract from the cost. they all make money off the ####### exchange rates they use. ALWAYS pay close attention to what rate they use.

Just open bitcoin wallets and send for free.

The American solution thats both free to receive and cash-out in dollar is Gdax's platform for Coinbase. You will need to determine if Switzerland has a good company that offers free purchase of bitcoin like Gdax. perhaps see if Coinbase operates in Switzerland. Unfortunately set up of the accounts and funding the account will take a long time but the sending only takes a few minutes.

My family sent us a transfer of several thousand through one of my dad's accounts with Kantonalbank (in Zug). It was no problem, and it didn't even cost that much. I can find out how much exactly it cost him in fees, but it was totally possible, and because we are with USAA over here, we had access to the money after two days.

You do not have to report the money to the IRS as it is already taxed funds.

YMMV

How about the western union (WU)

https://www.westernunion.com/ch/en/send-money/app/start

As I checked that if the receiver uses a bank account to receive the money, there is no transfer fees.

Nevertheless, one has to consider the currency exchange rate provided by WU, and bear in mind that WU needs profit one way or another. That means the exchange rate WU provided could be lower if they don't charge you a transfer fee.

Edit: for a single transaction online, the maximum is 5000CHF. So if PO wants to send in total 6000CHF/USD, you have to do it twice.
