My fiancée had the interview at the embassy in Haiti the first week of March and they requested additional documents to be sent via DHL along with her passport. That same week, we complied. We’ve been waiting since to be contacted. We have our email in the system and the DHL location set.

1) How are we going to get contacted and by whom (Embassy email, Consulate phone call, ...)?

2) How long on average does it take to be notified once you have sent the additional documents requested at the end of the interview?

3) The approval validity date from form I-797F is approaching. Do we have to request an extension?

4) If we get the visa approved, does my fiancée have to travel before the approval notice validity end date of form I-797F?

Same with me and my fiance.   We're still waiting too.

To answer your questions:

1) Every country is different.   Nigeria does email mostly.   I've been keeping in contact with them via email since the interview.

2) This varies too.  AP is really subjective and there's no set time at all.

3) Most embassies/consulates extend them automatically but it would hurt to just email them and mention it.

4) The visa validity will be 6 months from the date of the medical exam, no matter when the visa is actually issued.

I hope this helps!  Best wishes to you!!

Thank you very much for your reply. It helped.

Additional questions/feedback:

1) Does the embassy use their own email address or is-it from support-haiti@ustraveldocs.com?

2) Is Administrative Processing either a result of a red flag being investigated or just visa approval processing?

3) I sent the email today, 10 days prior to the validity date window expiration. I hope they will approve the extension.

...

5) Do they give you a reason for denial if that happens? Do they allow you to defend yourself?

Thanks again!

The email address that I use comes from the embassy website specifically for Nigeria.  I'm not sure what it is for Haiti but I'm sure you can get it off of the us embassy website under the Visa section.

It can mean a range of things. Maybe they're doing more investigation or there's a document that's missing that they requested. It could also be that they're waiting on some type of check to come back.  There are many many different reasons that they would put someone in AP.

They will give a reason for denial if they deny it. The downside to a K1 is that there's no official rebuttal process and they could just send it back to USCIS and you would have to start over again.  My suggestion is if that happens you get your Senator's office involved to contact the liaison at the embassy and see if a supervisor could review it to see if there is a different outcome that way.

Aw!!  Thank you!  I hope everything goes smoothly for both of us very very soon!

Please let me know when there's any movement on your case. Have you contacted your Senator's office yet?

Did you ever email the embassy?
