My wife, US Citzen, does not work. I recieve 23,000 in SOc sec, earn `13,000 partime and investment income of 3000 and have 340,000 in assets. She is the sponsor though not I but we file joint taxes. Is this enough income because soc sec does not getvtaxed and show as gross income on line 29

You would qualify just through assets of $340,000 alone - provided they were liquid enough.

The value of the stocks would be their current cash-out value (i.e. post-taxes). Yes, IRAs will count, but again would be counted at the value necessary to actually make use of them (taxes if it's a pre-tax IRA, early withdrawal penalties, if any, etc.).

 

Although you should be fine with that level of assets even with taxes, etc.
