You'll want to check with your local office. Here in NM, the guests are seated separately from the oath takers and I didn't see anyone seated with a toddler in their lap.

My overall experience in LA field was pleasant. I didnt had a hard time.

The officer hand me a paper and told me I should get a mail for my oath in 1-2weeks time.

My status online changed as soon as I left the building to “OATH CEREMONY WILL BE SCHEDULED”.

Its time to relax and wait for the oath.

hello! my husband had his interview this morning in los angeles. when we got there at around 7:45am, a line was already forming outside of the building but it was not that bad. his appointment was at 8:25am, he checked in at around 8:15am but did not get called until 9:25am. his interview went a little bit longer compared to others (around 45 minutes) only because his case is a little bit more complicated than most. he had gone through removal proceedings a few years ago but they were terminated and we were allowed to proceed with his adjustment of status. the interviewer had asked tough but fair questions, specifically pertaining to his "good moral character". my husband was able to answer all his questions satisfactorily as he was approved! the interviewer had to ask for approval from a supervisor but eventually approved the application. a few hours later we received an update on both of the uscis online accounts saying that his application has been approved and that he is in line for oath taking. after what happened this morning, my husband and i were just so exhausted! from the uncertainty of having to deal with my husband's removal proceedings leading up to the approval of his citizenship application years later has definitely been an emotional roller coaster ride for us and our family. we are just SO happy and grateful that we are almost done! if there is anything we learned through this is to always be truthful, be patient and be educated with the process. i really appreciate all of you and your insights and just knowing that we were not alone in waiting brought us some comfort and assurance. i will update my husband's information as soon as we get the oath date. thank you all!

p.s. we parked across the street at the los angeles mall for $17.

I had my I-751 approved on Aug 2018 and got my actual greencard around 1st week of September.

It was still pending when I filed for N400.

I brought my husband and my son with me in the bldg and when the IO called and greeted me I asked if my husband has to come with me in her office and she answered that they dont need to.

The IO asked me if I got an interview with my I-751 too, which I didn’t had also.

Everything went smooth and well. She didnt ask a lot of questions and was smiling most of the time.

I actually had my interview on November 27 and I wrote about my interview experience. I become a US citizen day Thank God its over, now I start a different Journey with uscis when I petition for my parents

I never received the 10yr green card probably because I was approved in November for the N-400 (with I-751 pending at the time) and they probably knew it wouldn't come in time.

At the oath ceremony in LA though, I and many others who didn't have our green cards were directed to a specific line at the front corner, before the ceremony began, to answer a few questions and sign a sworn statement that basically summarizes the situation (that we had the unconditional GC pending and that it hadn't arrived yet, and that my conditional GC was taken when I went in for a stamp on my passport a few months ago.)

It did feel like they expected most to have their GCs but there were also quite a few others in the same situation and they seemed to expect us to at least bring the 751 approval letter.

They didn't make too big of a deal of it and there was a fairly long line for this extra step but it seems to be a common enough situation overall.

So if you're in a similar situation, don't worry about it too much. Just bring your oath scheduled letter and preferably also bring the letter that states you were approved for the unconditional GC just in case. (I did and it seemed to help them go a bit faster.)

It was a bit odd considering I don't recall anyone here mention this particular part of the process but it also went fairly smoothly anyway.

I remember how nervous I was about all this just a few months ago so hopefully this helps others out who may be in a similar situation.

So I just wanted to document what happened after this to help anyone else in the same predicament. I got an info pass and went and saw an officer the week after my original interview date. I asked her what happened and mildly protested that I was never asked to bring along my wife. She explained that both petitions have to be adjudicated simultaneously as N-400 cannot be approved with I-751 pending while there is nothing stopping me from filing N-400 while I-751 is pending. She was very kind and said I can see that a reschedule has not been requested, let me request it for you. If you have not gotten a date by mid Jan come in and see us. In hindsight this appears is key. An interview reschedule has to be requested. by the time i came out of the office I got a text message saying your interview (original one) was canceled. and then thank God yesterday I got an text saying I have been scheduled and this morning the letter was uploaded - its on Feb 4th. So hopefully smooth sailing from now on. So from what the lady told me rescheduling request is the key as it gets you back in the line. You do not get into the line till such a request is made. So if for any reason your interview has to be rescheduled make sure you get an info pass to take care of it and make sure you get a notification that your original interview was canceled.
