Reporting marriage to foreign embassy

hi all, on my foreign ID paperwork and cards, it will say that i am "single" since when i moved here first i was single and i didn't report my marriage in us to embassy. I didn't do it because i didn't even know if it is mandatory.

if i use any of my foreign IDs which says "single" would it cause any problem here?

? It is not mandatory to report marriage to the embassy.

Why would it cause a problem at all? You are here in the USA and no one cares about that at all, they just care that it's actually you.

Reporting it your home country is kind of voluntary and I think many here just skips it. Plus I am not sure the embassy is the right place to do it. Where in your home country would you normally give that info to? That's probably where you want to report it to if you really want to. But I doubt you'll be having any issues with your ID. Like cyber just said: they'll only care that you are you.

As long as you're not claiming to be single on any USCIS application/form when you are actually married, you are fine.

one situation where reporting your marriage to your home country embassy is required is for philippine citizens for example. there, if you want to get a new passport with your married name on it, it is mandatory to do a "report of marriage" first.

 

other than that, if your issue is just that some of your IDs are in your maiden name, then as long as you have a bridging document like a marriage contract to prove the name change, then it's not really that big of a deal.
