Wouldn't 3,500lbs of poop sitting on your attic roof rafters have a serious effect? Either it would make it sag or start to eat into the wood, cos doesn't bat poop consist mainly of ammonia?

Bat sh!t has a pretty unmistakeable odor. For any of you guys who've lived in central Texas, you'll know what I'm talking about. My uni had a building called Batts Hall, which was quite aptly named; tons of bats would fly out from under the eaves every night, and the whole building had that spicy tang of bat sh!t in the air. Even if you clean it up every day there's really nothing you can do about the smell.

it can't be good for the foundation of the house. that's essentially the same weight as having a vehicle in your attic.

i wonder if the owners are going batty now
