Uber in Cebu City?

People here have pointed me towards using Uber from Nino Airport in Manila.  I just looked at an estimate from Balamban to Cebu Airport and it says 400-500 peso.  That's an amazing price.

If my fiancee takes a v-hire and then a cab from the V-hire terminal in Cebu City to the airport it'll cost her 600 peso or more, since she is going to Manila with her Aunt that add even more.

Question: Are such rates real?  Might someone who knows share some tips on Uber pitfalls, if there are any?

Thanks

The number quoted when you click for a ride is the real deal.  In metro Manila there is also Grab if Uber isn't being fair with a price.

I only used Grab so can't comment on Uber .. my wife's friend refused to use Uber because of "stuff she heard" so of course my wife didn't want Uber .

Uber is pulling out of Philippines, Grab is staying. Uber will own like 25% of Grab when they leave Philippines market.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Thanks Hank, all I can say is "wow."  My fiancee took a cab once in Cebu City and the guy harassed her over and over for her phone number until she took a piece of paper and wrote a wrong number on it.

I've never even heard of "Grab" so I'll look into bothe.

Based upon:

Grab Philippines also issued a similar statement:

We’re in the midst of combining our operations and will transition all Uber services over to the Grab app by 8 April 2018. So you’ll be able to continue using the Grab app as you normally do.

It seems that only Grab will be available after 8 April, and the 8th and 9th of April is exactly when I want to use it.

Hank you say that cabs are now cheaper than Grab.  Is this Manila or everywhere, in your opinion?  When at the Cebu airport any suggestions of "what" cab to take and how to tell if the fare quoted is reasonable or not?

I use Grab many times because I click and the car shows up, with a taxi we walk down the street and start waving .. but when the Grab prices get high (which they do certain times of day) we wait for a taxi.

We are metro Manila, I don't know about Cebu

Maybe, or maybe they know it's a market they are not going to win, I think Grab is based in Singapore.

Yeah Grab is based out of Singapore. That is the vibe I got as well is that they know it is not a market they will ultimately win unless they spend a crapload of money which UBER is lacking right now. Did you know they have yet to turn an actual profit

And now that one of their "driver-less" cars ran over a person killing him . they will have even less money

I have read that.

I buddy of mine in USA did some moonlighting for Uber, he said they take a pretty good chunk of the fare.

Never heard of it there, only Grab
