Justin Trudeau is less popular than Stephen Harper was at this point in his tenure as PM

Doesn’t mention it, but I wonder if the stagnant Canadian economy has anything to do with it.

 

Angus Reid is the latest polling company to find Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s popularity in precipitous decline in the wake of his widely criticized trip to India.

Trudeau’s net approval rating of -16 is well below Stephen Harper’s rating of -1 at a similar point in his tenure. Fifty-six per cent of respondents say they disapprove of Trudeau at his government’s 29-month mark, while 40 per cent say they approve. At Harper’s 28-month mark, 47 per cent disapproved while 46 per cent approved.

An accompanying report from Angus Reid points to the India trip, where the government was criticized for the presence of a convicted attempted murderer at a prime ministerial event, and a recent report from the ethics commissioner on Trudeau’s trip to the Aga Khan’s private island, as likely sources of the decline.

Texas Gov. Abbott just returned from a highly successful trip to India.  Maybe Abbott should be running Canada.

It might be a good idea.  What is interesting is s article seems to blame it all on the trip to India, but ignores the stagnant Canadian economy.  I know GDP is not the only economic measure that means anything, but with Canada hovering around 0.6-0.7% and the US around 3%, I think the Canadians are taking notice.

    Regardless of popularity, Trudeau will never be able to attain the pure jackass factor that Harper had.  Being less popular than Harper is telling though, and Trudeau hasn't even flipped the bird at the electorate yet the way his father once did. Still, Trudeau is more popular than Brian Mulroney was at this point in his first term and Mulroney managed a second term, although that second term was probably a big factor in the Conservatives no longer having enough seats to even be recognized as an official party. 

 

   Anyway long story short, I love Canadian politics. Goooo Rhinoceros party!!!!
