It's the invasion of privacy. I don't think it's right for the government (or an employer) two violate your privacy unless they have a really good reason to do it (a warrant, the same way they can search your house and underwear only with a warrant). It's wrong when done to anyone, no matter where they're from. I personally have nothing to hide but it doesn't mean I want anyone to see my discussions with my best friend about her ex or the texts I exchange with my husband.

There's no such thing as privacy on the internet. If you don't want anyone to see what you're posting, don't post it. Plain and simple. There's no privacy in immigration either.

There's privacy in your personal messages and your closed social media accounts. We need to protect people's freedom on the internet.

Have you downloaded your Facebook archive? Seen all the stuff they've got stored about you there? I did today and they've got all my personal messages I have ever sent to someone. There's no such thing as privacy on the internet.

But there should be. Government shouldn't be able to just look at your messages for no reason.

They don't do it for no reason. They're doing it for national security. Because in many countries all over there's been wackos who's been killing a bunch of peoples lately and they're worried the wackos will come here. Among other good reasons.

That's why I started limiting my posts on FB.

If they're doing it to everyone, they're doing it for no reason. If they only do it for those that are suspicious then it might make some sense, but not much. There are many wackos in the US, too. Domestic terrorism is a big problem. Religious fundamentalism is spreading and one of those fundamentalists is a vice president.

Are you even in the USA now or just posting what you see on the news?

So being Christian is being a fundamentalist? Wow I have heard it all on this thread.

Right... Yes, domestic terrorism is a huge problem. But that's because so far the US has been successful in keeping idiots who likes to kill people with trucks out of this country. It's not easy to profile who is going to be the next one to be the next psycho. Not long ago that a k1 recipient killed a bunch of people.

I am an atheist and I am not a huge fan of Trump, but I respect other peoples religions and views and I don't get why people are clanking down on peoples religions.

Probably not in yet, that's why they're freaking out.

Even my atheist coworker who hates Trump understands that Pence is more Conservative Religious than Trump. Also my coworker still respects Christians like myself.

Also you are correct because that is one reason why fighting in Iraq was a good thing because killed terrorists there and not here in the USA.

The whole botched war in Iraq is a discussion that needs its own thread. That whole thing was disaster.

Of course I am in the US, you can see my time line.

Being Christian is fine but some Christians are definitely fundamentalists and Christian fundamentalism is spreading. I mean, there are people in power who legitimately believe that birth control should be illegal. If that's not fundamentalism, I don't know what is. I've heard people expressing opinions that women shouldn't be able to vote. Christian fundamentalism is just as bad as any other fundamentalism

So? He's not going to go far with that #######. And I doubt it's spreading. They just see Pence and think "oh, we can come out of hiding now".

This is the 3rd time I'll say this: if you are posting something you could get fired for, don't post it. Someone might not want to hire you if you are openly posting pictures of the president in bad situations.

Doubt they're going to give you ####### for voicing your opinion at the Women's March, the US have freedom of speech.

I get that, and I'm kind of being a ####### on this thread, but the point is it only takes a few small steps before something like attending the women's march is an issue. They could one day list it as political activism that goes against the values of the USA etc etc...
