I was asked for my social media handle and my phone was checked by the DHS agent when I made the trip back to the U.S in 2016. (I even had/have Global Entry).

Now they're just making it official for everyone. I personally don't have any problem with it. You already have to assume that the Big Brother is watching you. So don't do anything stupid or illegal.

I get secondary inspection everytime entering the USA.

They ask me to do anything and I refuse, I tell them I am handicap and if they want it my luggage open then go for it.  They soon give up and let me move on. Best strategy I have found when dealing with them.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

You'd probably get through faster if you actually cooperated with them instead of being an ###.

Actually it works out quit well, I learned it from my nephew.

They know you have nothing to hide, so they push you thru.

Again, main stream media (CNN, MSNBC, ect) live to strike "fear and terror" into people. Especially immigrants. Notice, ICE goes to arrest known illegal criminals and news networks only manage to complain that ICE is "terrorizing immigrant communities"... always stuff from them like that that drives the average American and LPR crazy to hear.

I listened to a 'network' news item regarding this situation in California. The anchor said 'These are illegal immigrants who have been law abiding' in the USA. How is THAT possible??? Firstly, they are here against immigration laws. Then to work, they either get paid under the table OR use someone else's SS number...all against the law.

Can you say alternative facts?

Not sure why this stuff is even brought up in the USA. All media driven. Go to You tube and search 'Border Security Australia Border Force or Border Security NZ or UK or Canada. They check people's phones all the time. In the past, people used paper CV and letters..now its electronic!!

They don't check people's phones in Australia "all the time". They only do it if they're suspicious that you're up to something.
