Honestly, I don't care! I only care about my case and bringing my wife here, everything else is irrelevant. Sorry if this sounds shallow but it is the truth.

No, I do not agree than an illegal alien has the same constitutional right as a natural born USC, LPR , resident  or anything else. If someone is here illegally they should have no rights but to be jailed and escorted out of the country. If illegals have the same rights as everyone else than the constitution and citizenship is useless!

Have a good night

Doesn't really matter what YOU want though. Doesn't change the fact that they do have rights.

We are not discussing rights in general, such as basic human rights.  We are discussing whether an intending immigrant has rights as a US citizen does.  The answer is a resounding NO.  Simple as that.

Constitutional rights are based on basic human rights.

All of you who don't want illegals to have rights... Sorry, but that's terrible. They're still human beings and have dignity. They don't have the right to vote or run for office but they do have human rights just like the rest of us (including the right to privacy).

Corrrct me if I'm wrong please, this new law applies to 1) visa applicants and 2) People who apply for a Residency

such people would be asked to submit all their social meadia account. Now, what is account has a private setting? Like private IG or friends only FB, then one must make it public or government still have an accsess to private accounts and will use it regardless? This got me confused

Stop thinking with your feelings and think based upon reality.......

Illegal is illegal, there is no gray area here, these people broke a federal immigration law, so lets look at it this way, if you do not mind that people have broken a law to come here, well then you would have no problem letting murderers, rapists, pedophiles and other criminals go free with no punishment.

After all there is no difference, all mentioned above have broken a law and
(by your words) everyone has rights.

Wow, implying that rapists and murderers are in any way similar to illegal immigrants...

Illegal immigrants violated civil law, not criminal law. They're not criminals. Many of them are just desperate. But yes, real criminals have rights, too. They have the right to due process for instance.

Again, main stream media (CNN, MSNBC, ect) live to strike "fear and terror" into people. Especially immigrants. Notice, ICE goes to arrest known illegal criminals and news networks only manage to complain that ICE is "terrorizing immigrant communities"... always stuff from them like that that drives the average American and LPR crazy to hear.

Dude, you think those news networks are bad, try watching Telemundo or Univison.  Nearly 50% of their news coverage is about immigration, deportations, families being torn apart.  I tell my wife to stop watching that garbage because they want to grip you with horrible stories, so you eventually come back and watch more of it.  It's like a 50 car pileup:  no matter how much you resist the temptation to look, you can't help it.  Even our immigration lawyer said "Don't watch the news when going through your immigration case, it will just increase your anxiety".

My thoughts?

People who don't have any sinister plans, do not have anything to worry or stress about. Checking their social media won't be an issue for them.

Only people who actually plan some fraud are actually worry and they all scream BUT MY RIGHTS BLAH BLAH.

Sorry but not sorry. The country does its best to prevent fraud.

I think trump is just pushing immigrants further as he failed to pass bill to stop u.s citizens filing for their family members!

This dilema should stop and trump administration should be focusing on gun controL.

First of all, I think checking social media is for security and if people don't like it then they shouldn't come here. There have been a lot of terrorist attacks and mass shootings and the people who did it mentioned that in the social media before they did it.

Trump's immigration policy was really good, it was just like the Canadian immigration system and Australian immigration system which is based on points and I support that 100%.

And "his bill" wasn't to stop U.S citizens from filing for their family members. It was to control immigration. Like a U.S citizen or permanent resident could file for their unmarried children who are under 21 or their spouses. The bill says if you wanna immigrate to the U.S, you need to collect certain points before you may be eligible to immigrate.

here's a link about the bill: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/president-donald-j-trump-backs-raise-act/

Some of these posts seem kind of disturbing.

Immagrants have the right to due process, while Americans shouldn't be building policy that is strictly based off of paranoia.

Remember that most bad people that want to hurt US citizens are in fact already US citizens.

I was going to say LPR have constitutional rights.  Just because we're not USC doesn't mean I don't have the freedom of speech or religion.  Considering I can acquire a concealed carry permit, I'm pretty sure I have the 2nd amendment right.  I also don't have to consent to a search of my car or home without a warrant...

However, I agree that social media is not covered by 4th amendment.  My husband purposefully has no social media accounts.  He doesn't post on forums either.

My wife is the same way.  I asked her once if she wanted to set up a FB account and she flat out said no.  I have a FB account myself to keep up with family activities, but I rarely post on it.  I hate Twitter and the others, so nothing there.

That's the same way with Filipino news here in North America. The news is called Balitang America and supposedly only covers Filipino issues for North America but it's primarily the USA and Canada with maybe one news story about Filipinos in Mexico a year. They are ALWAYS going on and on about "Undocumented Immigrants" this or that and how we need to protect them. All the while forgetting that a majority of their audience came over here Legally and that their coverage snubs the nose at them. I even had a chance to talk with one of their reporters one day when we were both at MAGA rally in Huntington Beach CA, and I told him that what his show is doing is alienating over 2/3's of his audience by only trying to help Illegals.

What was funny is that he at first wanted to write me off because I am a white guy and obviously  I don't watch Filipino TV at all because I am white . But I told him that TFC/The Filipino Channel is pretty much always on in my house and so I watch it, now I hardly ever watch any regular tv shows that I have not already recorded due to the commercials.

BTW I hear Jorge Ramos is thinking about moving back to Mexico and leaving the USA.

As others have said people that are not even in this country do not have the same rights as those that are already here and in some kind legal status.
